Does the fact that a class is popular deter you from playing it?
I don’t know why, but I hate playing classes that are very popular among the playerbase.
I know that all in all, the numbers are relatively close (~3% at lowest and ~12% at highest) but seeing all this talk about paladins, for instance, made me lose all interest in playing one. I was also having a great time leveling a Druid, but after seeing how many people play one, I stopped. I main an evoker and I will keep doing that, but cant even bother to make alts. I don’t know why I am this way, but it’s frustrating.
When im in a raid, a bg or anything other that has alot of people in it. The uniqueness of being alone ir the special snowflake in the group feels better to me than being the 10th ret or druid.
Inb4 the comments about:
“you shouldnt care what other people play, play what you like!”
What are your thoughts on this? Is it anything you’ve ever considered or is this just blatant nonsense for you?
It does have an effect on me ,yes, a tiny bit.
If I have to choose between two classes I love equally, I will go for the least played.
If there’s two classes where only one really appeals to me, I’ll play it even if there’s millions of players.
I’ve played every class (and have the legion class order hall achivement to prove it) so I know which class/spec I enjoy and I’m going to stick with that for as long as I play the game
I will give you guide how to feel special on class that is represented massively.
If you are raiding for example and there are 5 other paladins with you…
you just needs to be better then all of them and thefore they don’t exist at all.
Beat them in every possible way and you will be the MAIN GUY…
if you can’t do it
pick a monk or rogue it looks like no one playing those
Usually no as I play what I enjoy. Obviously paladin is popular and i have nearly always mained a paladin (i had a brief spell as hunter in cata)
However… i did struggle when farming the legendary in DF S3 as it was hard to join pugs as they usually had 5 other paladins. But i suppose it wasnt just paladins that were effected
If it’s “popular” - or not - I don’t care, I play the monk.
If it’s “meta” - or not - I don’t care, I play the monk.
If it’s considered “good” - or not - I don’t care, I play the monk.
I’m not a world first mythic raider, nor am I pushing the highest possible keys in M+, so nothing really matters anyway aside from my enjoyment of the game.
And I really, really don’t care what anyone else thinks of me or the monk class. Everyone always has an opinion of some kind, and I couldn’t give a rats… bottom, what their opinions are.
I have started in TBC back then with Konstantino here and also a Druid, Kraktor my Shaman, a Rogue and with WotLK also a Hunter, Seldaron my Blood Knight (Paladin) and with Cata or MoP Selation my Death Knight.
The Balance Druid peaked from my opinion with WoD so I can not play it in Retail anymore as he feels not as good as he could be and with Hunter I suffer from Analysis Paralysis because there are too many cool hunter pets so no matter the popularity I play either Konstantino here or Seldaron, Kraktor, Selaron my Rogue or Selation depending on my mood. Of course if there are external influences like the Doomhammer in Legion or other story parts that make certain classes of my chosen ones more fitting then I will play those more but my main play time are Kraktor, Konstantino, Seldaron.
the only thing i get offended by, is ppl telling how to play a class, like shut the f up. i play my class the way I wants to, and i don’t care about min/max
No. In fact, I’ve come to somewhat identify with what I am in the context of WoW, I just am what I am when I play WoW. It feels weird to play any other character now - and this is actually good for me, because not only is this new expansion alt friendly, it’s also main friendly. You can no longer use alts to create a massive advantage for your main except for professions, but I’m okay with that.
i mean i dont care that much about what other peoples are playing and what not, but i like the feeling to make a class work which is not Meta, or not as easy as Bm hunter/Fury Warri
I’ve been playing since Tbc, in Mop i Switched From Rogue, to Feral, and I don’t regret it
