dont do any of this … judging by how long it took them to implement 9.1.5 this would take roughly a year… and i dont think even the die hard fans of shadowlands want shadowlands for another year.
just make 10.0…
if that fails… maintenance mode the game and work on a new title.
Or just stop being one of the umpteen of umpteen huge altaholics and feel you constantly have to do everything on multiple toons. Because your too lazy to find something that isn’t SL content on your main. To do instead.
You may be surprised how easy code can break other code. As a destiny player I can tell you that for some reason the gun “Telesto” (a weapon that did shoot til recent patch sticky projectiles on ground, enemies and allies) broke the game so often it is basically the games meme when something doesn’t work.
To name a few effects the gun had unintentionally:
Projectile detonations without enemy damage counted as game activity progress (defeat enemies %)
Projectile detonations spawned sometimes unintentionally orbs of power (a resource to refill ultimate energy)
Having the gun equipped resulted in certain networking error codes for players
There is like a 2 sites long list of bugs and glitches this gun caused. With the recent patch the ability to stuck projectiles on players was removed, as this seemed to be the cause of problems for the entire gun.
Also, I am pretty sure the most part of the WoW devs is working rn on the next expansion. Probably like 30-50 people from all areas (sound design, level design, item design, cinematic design, etc.) work as live-team for this expansion, so don’t expect them to do extra hours every day.
Yup, the incremental ilvl increase is a terrible design imo. Move the 226 & 252 upgrades to “set to X ilvl” instead of a random +13ilvl upgrade.
The vault is certainly a frustrating feature but completely removing the timegating in gearing is not a good idea either. Turning M+ into a massive grind-fest at the start of a tier because you can have access to an unlimited number of drops in the first few weeks is a bad design.
And if your point is just for 9.1.5 then it’s still a bad idea imo. It sets a precedent & it’ll just poison the 9.2 launch once players find that the timegating is back, even if they were forewarned.
What would it change tho ? The most important ones are either no longer timegated or already BOA.
The only ones that would make sense would be the grateful offerings but incentifying “play on alts to funnel resources on your main & bypass the timegating” isn’t really a healthy design either.
Especially if your goal is the stygian embers in which case that’s even worse. What this currency needs is either a catchup or be removed altogether, not that.
I mean if the 1st point is already in place it’s not really that important anymore.
A new title won’t ever replace WoW, at least not in the foreseeable future. If all fails then WoW classic still provides a healthy stream of subs anyway.
As for 10.0 none of this would take resources from it. It’s been in the works for years now (mostly art assets tho, but the story & content must’ve been planned for a while now) & a few fixes to the current game won’t really matter that much.
Nonsense.
This quarter had increased profits for one simple reason : D2 was a massive success and was among the most played games in the world after its release (It’s currently the 3rd most played game in PC bangs in Korea). They themselves admitted that next quarter won’t be up to standard.
As for whales outweighing millions of players… Yeah as if. There’s only so much one could spend in WoW compared to other games.
Even if you were to buy 20 tokens and a shop mount per months you’ll “only” give 165€ more than the usual player. (Every tokens realistically only earns 7€ as they allow someone else to buy for 13€ of stuff)
Which is a lot but nowhere near what games actually praying on whales can earn (remember these mobile games with MTX going up to 200€ each or those houses in ESO sold for more than 100€ ? I 'member)
And I honestly doubt a tenth of the playerbase is crazy enough to buy that much stuff from the store to make up for the lost subs.
what i mean by this is maximum ilvl allowed, not that all get 252 from m+ drops, or that if u are 180 ilvl and u just get 252. i mean set maximum ilvl to 252 inside m+. so raiders wont have so big edge as they do now.
How can you tell tho ? It’s not as if they shared data and I didn’t see any reliable ranking beside the KR one.
But granted, Korea has always been a unique market.
?
We’re not talking about pre orders or delux edition, just people buying a game and playing it without additional mtx etc. It’s not a live service so where’s the harm ?
New world ? You know, the 900k peak concurrent players game you were so vocal about in another thread.
1/ There has been great success since Wotlk. Case in point : Classic & D2R.
2/ You’re completely misunderstanding my point. You attributed the recent increased profits to WoW’s business model, which is wrong since D2R carried this quarter.
The fact that D2 can earn a ton of money have hundred of thousand peak concurrent players and still not change its MAU counts is the proof that it’s other games are struggling.
There’s no “false hype” from Blizzard, these are bad results no matter how you look at this. Yet claiming that whales smh manages to offset the loss of millions of players couldn’t be farther from the truth. You can’t even realistically pay for a hundred players to begin with.
You are buying into the revamp re-release fad, something blizz has done nothing but for years instead of release new games and ideas, that is the harm.
Both suffered the same fate, big peak fast demise.
disagree just remakes nothing orignal about them
i attributed the success to multiple things including pre orders , transmogs, mounts, transfers, name changes, card packs, characters you name it.
D2 may of been a massive spike in pre orders and initial sales… buti highly doubt its still peaking now.
remakes generally only attract a hype crowd and then die off.
whales do cover lost subs like it or not there is no disputing that fact in my view.
I’ve heard flat earthers sing a similar tune before.
Alright Overwatch then. New IP and a success by all accounts. It’s suffering now but it doesn’t erase the years of popularity.
Another instinct of yours ?
A few weeks ago a reddit thread shared a graph of the number of raids logged on WoW progress for Classic characters. We were at similar levels than back when ZG was released. There’s a lot of factors here & it’s certainly not merely “ZG classic subs = BC current subs” but it shows that classic is anything but dead.
Yeah the game is far more monetized than it was back in BC. This doesn’t mean that we smh have a few thousands whales making up for the loss of millions as you put it. You’re pushing forward a very different narrative here.
