Everyone seems to agree levelling doesn’t feel good and hitting a new level is meaningless but for me levelling fully loomed (which I still do) removes so much progression. You miss out on that feeling of gear upgrades all the way through levelling, especially when something drops in a dungeon and you win the roll.
The xp boost could be replaced in another way. In my head there would be an alchemy potion for expac that gave you a perminent xp boost till you out levelled the content. They’d use mats from that expac much like enchanting’s tomes of illusion, e.g. Potion of advanced learning: Northrend.
For every heirloom you’ve bought you get your gold back but keep the mog in your collection.
It would also mean you’re not automatically op for content and make it a bit more engaging.
But how to engage people while leveling? I’m not sure WoW can do that anymore. New content maybe, old content probably not.
That’s why I prefer blazing through it with looms without having to worry about a decent weapon etc.
That being said though, during the BFA leveling process and actually feeling myself get weaker was really reaaaally sh*tty and not engaging either. I leveled a character last week with looms and it felt better(still getting weaker but less).
Yh but you end up in a dungeon where everyone else is smashing though it and your dmg sucks. You still get the feeling of smashing through easy content but it takes longer to level up and your less helpful
Don’t run a damage meter through low level dungeons then it doesn’t matter if you are doing half the damage of the others because you won’t have to see it.
I have spent a huge amount of time and gold/badges etc getting and upgrading all of my heirlooms. I worked for them because I have levelled many characters and there is nothing fun or exciting about repeating that content again.
I don’t see why making it an alchemy potion would be better or see any purpose to replacing one system with another. Add to them by all means. I like to use the heirloom and xp potions.
We don’t yet know any information about the squish. It could take just as long to get from 1-60 as it currently does from 1-120.
I also doubt they can work out exactly how many thousands, or in my case well over 1 million gold, each person had spent on all the heirlooms and their various upgrades.
I’m not saying systems never change, and who knows maybe they will but I for one wont be happy about it
I would wear an heirloom in every slot if I could. Nothing about levelling is fun for me, including getting rewards. I’ve seen them all before. I have them all collected, If it wasn’t for heritage I would just boost them. But sadly that disqualifies me.
I have not liked the revamp they did with scaling and I did not find it improved my experience. Whilst I see that people can complete whole zones there is no power gain and it all feels very samey. The old system wasn’t perfect either and we skimmed through a few quests in each zone then moving on but we could choose to do green, yellow or orange quests.
I absolutely love new content. Every time we get a new expansion or patch or zone, I go and explore every nook and cranny, do every quest, no matter how minor or major. I absolutely adore it. I can’t get that feeling from old content.
I found it harder with BfA going through alts because we only have three zones and that makes varying the journey really hard. It was refreshing to do an Alliance because they were totally new zones and quests, other than the WQs I’d done on my Horde main.
People are all different and we like different things. I used to love levelling alts. Sadly those days are gone.
Simply put, no. I spend at least 200k into these gears and upgrades and farmed countless shipping missions for the rings. It was hard enough that they reduced the power the heirlooms from purple to green. They have to stay.
