If wow 2 happens

If blizz makes new engine that can be upgraded for years and graphic style is same But improved as in wow it could brake records.Game could last 50 years or something like that.

There will not be a scrap one game and make another. They will just continue to upgrade the engine. As far as I’m concerned this isn’t a WoW 2 scenario. It’s just continuing to upgrade WoW 1.

Could have sworn we had the umpteenth WoW 2 discussion the other day.

Oh found it

What’s up with all these WoW2 delusions?
Making a new MMO-game is a huge risk for the company, and when was last W-Blizzard release?

If they somehow shadowdrop WoW2 separately from WoW1, completely separate game - its only divide playerbase even more.
And if they “Upgrade” Current WoW1 to WoW2 - im up for it, but its already happening through the years. Slowly and sloppy, but its happening.

And another classic “Do the new engine!” - i have the feeling that WoW players just crawled out from theirs WoW-only cave, saw other games and now want to put “New engine!” everywhere.
The thing is, WoW’s engine is a potato, which can be launched on the potato. If you put, for example UNREAL ENGINE 5 above current engine, how they did with Oblivion… well, its a risk to lose a lot of “potato” playerbase, as well as multiboxers, botters and etc.

Im personally up for WoW2 if it will be on highly optimized, flexible engine and i can keep my achievements/collections, im up for restructuring current expansion policy which is: New expansion, Only few new locations is matter, After expansion is over, it will be thrown in a stinky pile of “frozen in time” old content.
And most of all, im up for rethinking seasonal and artificial “progression”

Again, making a new game, plus making a MMO-game - is a huge risk for the company.
If i recall correctly, there is no new MMO-games, which is unconditional W, to be “Game could last 50 years”
It is a game-service fatigue, players don’t want to invest into something new because they have already invested a lot of time into other game.

Ok, tell us, which influencer talked about WoW 2.0 recently? This is no coincidence anymore.

I hope they add ragdoll physics.
Can’t wait to do raid bosses with the soothing background hum of all the trash packs stuck inside of various static objects because the dumb mage(i.e. me) couldn’t lay off with the arcane explosions .

i like the idea of new engine that can last long time, yes. but its not just about graphics or light and shadows. this game is more than shiny things. Its about feeling the hunt, the fight, the stories we live inside.

you can make beautiful world but if there is no soul, no challenge, no meaning, people will leave. its like a empty house with fancy walls.

a new engine can be good, but devs must remember why players come back (not for pretty pictures but for feeling alive in the world)

I know a lot about game development. All Blizzard has to do is throw the code of WoW in ChatGPT and then tell it to convert it to Unreal Engine 5. And the game will automatically have realistic graphics and amazing optimization!

Indeed, as another poster pointed out in that other thread, years ago they couldn’t do player housing. Now due to various upgrades behind the scenes they can.

To me it’s just one World of Warcraft. Updating does not make it v2.

As another poster had pointed out, we are currently in WoW 11. Next expansion will be WoW 12. The game engine is constantly being expanded to allow for more development options that before.

Of course, some changes are more impactful than others. From a tech point of view, I think the most impressive change was when they changed from the old file format to the new one (was it during WoD?).

You need vulpera brain to understand game development

May your days be short and hardships more !

They have been using same game engine for Hearthstone and keep adding and adding stuff for more than 10 years. You would expect a simple game like Hearthstone to run smoothly any computer but game consumes whatever it can find even on high end PC’s.

I don’t think they will upgrade engine of the Warcraft anytime soon, for Hearthstone needs upgrade more. But even if they do it, it won’t be WoW2, instead they will just change it.

What if they been working on new engine for years?Learning from their mistakes and all? After the saga ends wow 2 is on

we can clearly see that this is not the case, the graphics of wow are exactly the same since mop/wod/legion

The worst thing is that no new mob/mount skeletons have been created since BFA, I think the last skeleton was the BFA bees

Seriously? ChatGPT generally provides “code” (i use the term loosely) for old versions of the specified IDE, which don’t work anyway.

LMAO wut ?!

The graphic are not even remotely close to what they used to be.
Especially since MoP/WoD/Legion.
Game received overhauls every single expansion.
