If you play WoW, why don't you play Hearthstone as well? šŸ¤”

Inquiring minds would like to know. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

In my own humble opinion, Hearthstone is on :fire:
That game just keeps getting better and better and better.
It is nothing but :rainbow: and :sunny: in Hearthstone…and :squid:

So if you’re into WoW, why aren’t you into Hearthstone as well?

From a pure Warcraft perspective, there’s so much that is coming from Hearthstone these days.

Take the memes.
Warcraft is all about the memes. And Hearthstone takes it to the next level.
WoW has those quests in Elwynn Forest with the Kobolds and their candles, and they’ve been meme’d a little bit here and there throughout the years.
Hearthstone takes that meme and makes an entire expansion out of it with commercials and everything! :candle: :eyes: :exclamation:

Take the story.
Lots of people play WoW for the story. And you get a lot of story in WoW. But when Hearthstone is starting to compliment the lore of Warcraft with its own stories it becomes almost like a peanut butter & jelly sandwich – the best of both worlds!
Take Jaina Proudmoore. A very beloved character in Warcraft. A lot of people love anything that involves Jaina. And WoW has a lot of stories that are about her.
…But so has Hearthstone!
The new solo experiences – Book of Heroes – provides unique and interesting story to various iconic characters in Warcraft that you’re not going to find elsewhere. How does Jaina learn magic and become a powerful Mage? Play Hearthstone and find out!

And it’s starting to funnel the other way as well. Originally it was always the case that Hearthstone drew inspiration from WoW, but now WoW is starting to draw inspiration from Hearthstone. Take these guys:
Imgur
Cool quest-givers, but you can really only appreciate how awesome their quests and dialogue is if you know them from Hearthstone:

And then there’s the gameplay.
Originally, then Hearthstone was a basic trading card game, akin to whatever the school nerds were playing in their basements on the weekends in the 90’s.
But these days Hearthstone has introduced so many new and different ways to play, like the recent Battlegrounds, which is ultimately just another take on Auto Chess, that you don’t really have to be into trading card games to enjoy Hearthstone:

So I’m a little curious. If you’re really into WoW and you love Warcraft, but you’re not playing Hearthstone, why is that?

(And yes, I realize that I’m totally shilling for Blizzard here, and they have my address, so they can just send the money! :moneybag: :moneybag: :moneybag: :money_mouth_face:)

hearthstone is a terrible P2W mess with annoying gameplay, like every card collection game, and the fact that little bits of Hearthstone are leaking into WoW makes me actually worried because of how unfitting HS is with the general vibe of WoW.

why do you think i dont, i in fact try to keep all my quests for free cards completed.
its just wow is more fun atm with leveling changes

Because collecting cards is a nightmare.

I have 0 interest in playing a game where I’m always at a disadvantage or have to restrict myself to a single season of cards.

I’m also an incredibly sore loser when it comes to digital games and i try to avoid things that make me rage out. On top of that i just dont want to have more than one game i have to do dailies on, It’s a pain.

I used to play HS when it first came out, then stopped just before the first expansion.
The reason I don’t play anymore or have any interest in trying to start up again is the amount of money/time I would need to invest to get all the expansions, get all of the cards from said expansions, to hopefully find months down the line I enjoy it again.

May I ask why you think that is so?

Hearthstone has a huge backlog of cool Solo Adventures that are entirely free and you can play right now. Doesn’t cost a dime.

Many of its other gameplay modes, be it Battlegrounds, Arena, or the upcoming Duels, don’t really require any investment of money in order to be enjoyable or rewarding.

I mean, sure, if you want to reach Legend in Standard or Wild every Season on multiple classes, then you do definitely need to throw a little money at the game. But you do that with WoW as well. You throw money at new expansions and monthly subscriptions, so why is it off-putting that Hearthstone also can cost some money?
And as said, if you don’t aim for Legend in Standard or Wild, then you don’t really need to spend any money on the game at all. Lots of people do just fine with a free-to-play approach.

I mean… Hearthstone is arguably set in the same universe as WoW, but two more different gameplays I have a hard time imagining.

Might as well ask why I don’t also play a ton of FPS games because they’re also about making your character run through a hostile environment while being attacked from all sides.

Well it was mostly a question posed to those who would fulfill the criteria, i.e. playing WoW but not Hearthstone. It’s not an assumption that it’s everyone. :hugs:

Don’t the Solo Adventures appeal at all? I mean, they’re basically small Warcraft stories. Most of them don’t cost anything. You don’t need any cards to get started with most of them.
Or again, as said earlier, something like Battlegrounds. It’s entirely its own thing and doesn’t really have anything to do with your card collection or daily quests or anything. It’s just a mini-game.

Why? Because I sincerely suck at it.

Because I see right through what it really is op. Its pay-to-win rng and sometimes you still lose because of the rng, not because you are a ā€œgood playerā€. I prefer MTG, because its ten times more complex. Blizzard does not make games for HC players. Never have. Never will.

Card games are boring and tedious. Why anyone would want to simulate them when a computer can actually run something that is fun is beyond me. The gameplay of Hearthstone isn’t saved by being Warcraft; even though the illustrations, sounds and music are all ever so good that doesn’t count for much when the core concept is annoying and boring. Got my hearthsteed and purged the game from existence, my only regret is that it stayed installed as long as it did.

Because I don’t like Hearthstone.

And this comes from someone who used to play Magic: The Gathering (at tournament level too).

I just don’t like their card game (I don’t like digital card games, period, tbh).

Seems like just another card game that wants you to spend lots in microtransactions and if you not willing to spend it’s gonna cost you time, lots of time (to incentivize transactions).

Maybe it’s a good game and i’d enjoy it but it feels like a trap to even try it out so I will not.

But if Blizzard made a Warcraft-themed game that complimented World of Warcraft – and which just happened to be an FPS game – wouldn’t you find that slightly appealing to play, because it’s Warcraft?

If you take a franchise like Star Wars, then it’s quite common that the super nerds are into everything that has to do with Star Wars, be it the movies, novels, games, or whatever, because they want as much as possible from the universe they love.

I know it’s the same with Warcraft for some. Lots of people dig into WoW and novels and Hearthstone and so on. But some also don’t. So why not? Why not Hearthstone? :yum:

Because it’s booring…

If I want to be Top 500 in Overwatch I just need to work hard.
If I want to be top raider or PvPer in WoW I just need to work hard.
If I want to be a high rank in hearthstone, I need to pay for it.

False equivalency. I pay for an expansion, and I can then unlock every single drop of gameplay advantage in that expansion I’ve paid for for free, only requiring my own effort. In hearthstone you just buy the gameplay advantage.
