Daily?? Insane.
I don’t use any addon managers. The number of addons I use is miniscule (I think I have two, both very minor).
I thought RIO was a garbage system before. That it also apparently has to be updated “ideally daily” makes it even more ridiculous.
(Certainly won’t be using RIO ever.)

No one has to use it and if you are so adverse to updating you can always manually look people up. Or simply ignore it all together if you dont’ care about what teams you are choosing.
How does it whhen it doesnt even show alt exp?
It doesn’t differentiate between an alt and a main, if you have score over 200 you will show to other players.
If you want your main score to show on your alt you need to log on to raider io and mark a character as a main. You will still need to meet the minimum requirement for the score to start showing.
Only time the addon fails is when API fails to pick up any name/race/faction changes I’ve noticed since that’s reliant on Blizzard API (?) anyway, its user error 100%

Which is silly because you’re still lacking every single char you play information.
it should include -every single alt/main-.
Not just one selecterd main char where I have to log on to a third party website (which I wont do anyway).
You still get a score per char
On -every single one of them. Mains and alts.

It does not differentiate between a main and an alt. Every character in the game is treated the same. Once you hit 200 score, you will show in game regardless of whether it is an alt or a main.
A score below 200 isn’t going to get you into anything.

R.io does need manual updates when your character has not completed any of the content that r.io records. How can something be missing if you haven’t done it on the character?
This also does not necessarily record the character in the addon or link to your main either if you haven’t done any content on the alt.
Any time I have a new alt maxed and I want my progress to show from my main I do a low key or I do some bosses on normal. This normally forces the sync between main and alt with the next update of the addon.
If you can’t get into either a low key or a normal raid then you should consider the alt needs some catch up first as I doubt anyone is using r.io for either of those and if they do, that is a questionable group.
At the point r.io would be used for key levels or raid difficulty you should have done easier stuff anyway that would be recorded and force a sync with your main.
If you do a single instance on M+15, your score will be below 200. So, your M+15 run, completed on an alt, won’t count because of a rather arbitrary rule imposed by the addon.
What was the reason for the cutoff, I wonder? The more details I get to know about the addon, the worse it seems to be.
That is quite an exceptional situation. If you can do at once a +15 as your first dungeon, you can probably do a 2nd to get those 35 missing points for getting to 200. Or the char is boosted, and who cares about a boosted players rio-score.

This situation that you call “exceptional” is going to happen all the time for someone who is running M+ solely for loot and is interested in a specific instance. Eg, for PVPers.
If someone is running 1 dungeon for the loot all the time, then why is rio such a problem? He is already running that 1 dungeon all the time.
(while i do think there are probably more dungeons where a pvp’er wants a specific from. Not only 1. That IS exceptional.)
People complain that they can’t get into m+ because they do not have RIO score, but suddenly people getting into +15 runs with 0 RIO is “going to happen all the time”.
Make up your mind.

I think its based on the leader board, not score. Run needs to be top X on your realm. 15s definitely fall into this category.
Examples
This is one of my alts but you get the idea of how a linked up character will show a main score on an alt:-
These are random players in the World of Warcraft who either don’t have a main set up or are their main, this is how raider io treats all accounts by default.
Because you need to run instance X on one char and instance Y on the other.
Look, let me make it clear. I agree this is not a huge problem. Other problems with RIO are much worse. It’s just hilarious to me to see that the more I get to know about the addon the worse it actually works and the more amateur the authors seem to be. Before this thread I didn’t know that you have to update the addon “ideally daily” (what?) nor did I know about this bizarre cutoff at 200 RIO. I understand why they did the first thing and I think I understand why they did the second as well (they are actually related) - because they couldn’t find a better technical solution for keeping the scores actual. And they couldn’t find a better technical solution - which is, updating live - because, well, their model is flawed and because they simply aren’t terribly good developers. And sure enough their ranking system is completely bogus, but we had an entire different thread for that, let’s not reiterate.
Technically you don’t have to. If you have anyone else in your party who does update his score (which is mostly the case) your score will get updated as well. That is how I have my 2k score on my hunter even though I have not downloaded the addon.
You dont need the addon to get a score. If you want yourself information from the addon ingame THEN you need to update daily to keep up to date. The website stays updated anyway.
This 200 number is also only for the addon. The website itself is showing any score, so also players with 0.2 score.
There is nothing amateur about this. As an addon user you have to know what you install and how to use it. The addon can not do requests to the website all the time. It is way better performing when players get the data to their own pc.

Nobody needs the addon to get the runs registered on the website.
