hello dear wow players, hope you all doing well i was looking at forums and lots of you seem to complain about affliction warlocks being “broken” so i took some time and put together a short video that explains detailed why deathbolt is broken and how easy it is to counter it ( those games were recorded at 2300 to 2500 mmr so keep in mind games below 2000 rating/mmr can be way worse because of less awarness of game and worse positioning) i would really appreciate if you leave honest comment about deathbolt being broken after watching the video. thanks and hope you enjoy it and it will be eye opener for some of you who thinks its broken and theres no counterplay to it.
But it is…100-0 someone with one ability is not a good and healthy game design…it was in the game in the past in form of glacial spike…it was same bs…big long build up and then 100-0 with one ability. It was nerfed staright up in beta…reckful+ ziqo…why are these oneshots “OK” for developers now? I dont get it.
No matter the viability or strength of locks…deathbolts os just unhealthy for the game. Thats my opinion and you can call me whatever you wannt.
Stop acting like its impossible to set up with your team, it is as much possible like it is possible to counter it.

Deathbolt is not one ability. It’s entire setup of 4 GCDs. So it’s actually 4 abilities. You can’t press Soul rot, let it run and then follow up with other abilities later. You need to do everything in one go, soul rot, singularity, darkglare and deathbolt. Each second passes inbetween the damage of deathbolt is already getting reduced.
by one ability you meant. corruption > agony 2x(3x+ if in 3v3) > unstable affliction > soul rot > phantom singularity > dark soul > rapid contagion > darkglare > deathbolt? and if healer doesnt dispell or LOS in this time or procc any cooldowns that means warlock is broken right? when we have classes like warrior hitting 30-40k executes with just popping necrolords banner or getting 30k templar verdict from retri paladins and they do 30k healing with word of glory and mm hunters hitting 40-50k aimed shot or ww monks oneshotting in every leg sweep
So lets take another angle for this.
Do you like this ability as a lock…if it has so many counters?
If you dont, then i dont get this over the top defensive.
If you do like to oneshot ppl, then you have to admit its possible to set it up with the team on 2.5mmr.
Its not like deathbolts is immposible to get off.
As i said. Its my opinion. Abilities like that doesnt have the place in the game, and it doesnt matter if you have to dance hula hoop or solve rubiks cube before you cast it. 100-0 in 1 global is bad for the game.
Its funny for the caster, idk about the receiving end.
exactly i fully agree with 100-0 shouldn’t be in game but nerfing affi locks 2 times in last 2 patches & 1 more incoming on next patch is not fair when melees are literally pressing one button to do 100-0 and have no counter to it even using wall doesnt help against rets & warriors so why not nerf everything thats been broken since shadowlands day 1 and not specific class that is “broken” because enemy players bad positioning or bad game awareness and no cooldown usage. they should just nerf every class that can 100-0 or 100-20% in one hit i agree but theres difference between 10 gcds and 1 gcd and doing same dmg also all you have to do is dispell/los dots & deathbolt when ret can just roll over you even when hes in bubble he can still do insane damage back in the day bubble would reduce dmg done from rets but now they pop it to just oneshot you lol what a joke
Should ppl die to one hit even if its hard to setup? No.
Should ppl die to 20 hits within a single gcd? No.
Should ppl die in blind 100-0 because it functions as a stun? No.
SL pvp is simply a clown fiesta that should never happen. SL warlock especially has so ridiculously bad design, I can hardly believe they did not do it on purpose, serving as a bad social experiment. Its not fun to play, its not fun to play against it. Warlock being garbage pvp class doesnt justify them having idiotic perma all map slow nor one shot abilities.
Deathbolt is a dumb the way it is. If the lock uses every CD in the game and kills you while u sit in the open, that is fine. Saying that getting 1 shot, basically doing normal rotation isnt fun for anyone.
Gimmicky stuff is the worst for the game.
Affli, will be totally fine after the meele train auto swlfheal stuff is gone
I disagree on this. Certain abilities could have oneshot potential. Not instant proc executes, but something like glacial spike in legion that requires all planets to align. It’s a great feeling when you can finally set it up after 5 minutes of preparation and proper execution.
Way better than a rogue killing you in a 7 sec kidney with his pve rotation.
Well to be exact: Deathbolt is one ability. But you can’t 100-0 somebody with just Deathbolt. That would do literally 1 damage. And even level 1 probably has > 1 HP.

theres more clips all over the youtube mm hunters onetapping enemies lol imagine having ability to shoot behind walls and do 70k dmg in 1sec and then people complain about 10 gcd 50k deathbolt that is dispellable and easy counterable
theres massive difference between affi lock preparation when you can see it coming and when invisible hunter pops 3 cooldowns and shoots you while hes still invis and his first hit is like 30-40k and its a double tap so enjoy that 70k dmg
on 2nd. kyrian is on a global and puts you out of stealth so invisible is not what he was. trinket usage puts you out of stealth aswell. so kyrian was used and at that point you see him and what he does, also you see the circle on ground. so you see circle, hunter is there and pops trueshot and casts aimed. what you gonna do?
Let’s say we use a defensive CD such as pain supression - then we take about 42k dmg. Is that still okay to you? That a ranged dps can do that much damage in a second?
thats not the point. am i “still” okay? i find such design stupid. but we have to live with it rn as with other speccs onetapping ppl like rets and wws
