If you want more socializing join a RP server

I see many people saying chat is dead, and this was my experience as well on normal servers. When I joined a RP server (Argent Dawn) I was shocked by how much chatting was going on. Trade was non-stop chit chat and there were groups of players standing around in cities socializing. I joined a guild and the chat log was so full that I couldn’t even scroll through one day of chat, while on my normal server it was maybe 20 messages a day max. So yeah if you’re looking for more socializing then a RP server is for you.

I remeber first time i met rp guy in ultima online …he ask me for help with some urgent matter (i was like wtf dude its a game) but i took this role and start to tell him story about some necromancer dude while he was killing some skeletons and doingdirty work as paladin. He then reward me with full set of iron plate armor perfectly crafted…dude was great experience but i dont have time for it these days have to farm these systems

I guarantee you that the chat on my server is not dead, but I wish it was. I just cringe everytime I see these kids argueing and shouting at each other. Bots, boosts and rmt ads arent too interesting either. Blizz turned this game into mostly solo experience with few ppl brave enough to find 20+ not completely idiotic ppl and attempt to raid.
But playing on an RP server, one must have some serious balls. I tried it once for sh*t and giggles and I think I still have a trauma years later. Not judging or anything, but many ppl there are NOT ok.

Other day I saw a couple of RPers and they were amazing actors, i could have just spectate them all day in chat, not about wow lore their characters felt like they had a story on their own some of them far away from what’s happening out there because they were just your average joe.

People seriously NEED TO STOP sending Non-RP’ers to servers like Argent Dawn  It is for ROLEPLAYERS. You don’t RP? then don’t go there.

You wanna know why AD have the “lively chat” that they do?
Because they combat the boost spammers, trolls and the like! Booster’s don’t get to have their feet touch the ground there (gods knows that they tried). If they start spamming, They get pushed out of tradechat, and silenced in no time there. And everybody takes part of making the chats social also.

There COULD be a lively chat on any other server… But people don’t wanna bother. And actually I would say that people moving to realms like AD just because they have a livelier and thus more social chat, is just as lazy as everyone else on the normal servers.
It’s a community issue, and it could very easily be changed… If people just wanted to bother. But ofc it is always easier when someone does the work for you

I shouldnt have to join a RP server to have a server community in a mmo.

If you ever played on Argent Dawn/Alliance, you would know that there’s an issue with OOC’ers disturbing RP a lot.
And people keep sending Non RP’ers over there.

“On AD you can be in warmode without meeting Horde - go there”
“On AD there’s no boosters, and tradechat is lively - go there”
“On AD cities feel alive, and there’s roleplay to watch, go there to be intertained”

Just any good guild will do. Can’t find one? Make one.

We had 70 people online yesterday, gchat was hilarious as always.

The channel chat on AD is absolutely live and too much most of the time.

I have to block trade, LFG channel on AD, because the spamming is too fast.

Not sure what I prefer, a silent chat or a Dirge or dirty-words spam like just before the release of SL.

For real, even the “dead” chats tend to be alive underneeth. One joke in /trade or /general can open up a can of 20 lurkers. Is the Guild-chat empty? Check their Discord. See someone doing the same quest? Talk to them, ask them to team up.

There is a lot more chatty activity going on than you might think, at least in my experience.

Played on AD for a couple of years. Most of the people there are nice, indeed. But don’t ever go to the AD forum. There is a bunch of toxic players there who proclaim to be “RPers” but spend all their time barking at people that they should RP or get off the server.

if you’re interested in roleplaying, join the server.

if not, the raiding community (esp. horde side) is very lacking and you’re probably better served joining another server and not taking up spots that could be used by roleplayers.

there are some unfathomably dim-witted people who get very upset with this straightforward advice, but they honestly aren’t worth listening to.

Why would you go to a RP Realm (the only RP realm with RP on it, still) if you don’t intend to Roleplay?

The only ‘social’ non-RPer things I personally see on AD is people spam inviting others to their social guilds, non-RPers giving their opinions on American politics and black Blood Elf customization options in trade chat, and finding roleplayers, getting on a big mount and standing on top of them while yelling random slurs.

Just like how you wouldn’t join a PVP Realm back when those were still a thing if you had no intention of ever actually doing PVP, you shouldn’t be joining an RP Realm if you’ve no intent of actually roleplaying IMO.

What if I don’t want to engage in RP though? Seems kinda it goes hand in hand on a RP labeled server.

It’s fine, within the rules, etc.

Just don’t go to the AD forum, as I say, because the toxics there are going to throw a hissy fit that you are “just playing without contributing”.

Call me crazy of course. But why peps are so desperate to socialize here. Wow is not some dating game where you must talk.

Before the “its a MMORPG” argument is yelled out. MMO just means that there are other people around. What you do and how(if) you engage other peps is up to you. RPG - aight fine. Playing “lone wolf” is a valid role like any other.

I don’t think that argument is really going to work. You can’t force people to RP any more than you can stop them rolling a character on an RP server.

I have been on AD since Vanilla also, and I don’t actively seek to RP. However, I do follow the guidlines: I don’t use spatial chat channels OOC, I don’t disrupt other peoples roleplay, and if I am able I will react in character to other roleplayers if they address me.

I do agree that the (thankfully not too many) people who do not respect the guidleines are not welcome, but again, there’s not really any way to enforce it. Those of us who do play by the rules though have every right to be there, regardless of how actively we RP.

I chose RP server, even though i was never interested in RP. People are cool and from time to time you can see very funny and strange things
