Ignore player function issues

Today I rage quit… -

For the first time in many years playing WoW.
It was actually due to an issue I have been having for a while, but this time it really struck a nerve.

I’ve been to a Mythic + run, had the bad luck to meet one of “Those toxic guys”, ignored him (while still in the same group) left the instance…

Got an offensive whisper from said player…

Go there again, ignore player - this time the chat returns the message “player not found”…
Got another whisper…

Right click…report player etc…

“Your complaint has been registered”…

Got another Whisper…tried to ignore again, using the interface and the command.

“Player not found”

Tried player name…player name + realm (in all formats and ways).

Player not found…

I just quit the game.
To make it go away, to feel I had - some choice -

As I said this want the first time, it was only the first time I ignored someone and the person insistently /whispered me for the following 30 min after my first attempt to ignore player.

Blizzard cannot control player behaviour, I understand that, but working tools should be in place to give everyone the option to interact or not with certain people.

I am truly disappointed and wondering if anyone else had the same issues.

Ps: this isn’t an 8.3 bug, it had been happening for quite some time .

I’d say make a ticket about it, if someone bypasses the ignore function to harass you they can get slapped with a game vacation.
All the logs get saved when you report them so they don’t need stuff like screenshots and so on. Just mention the person was circumventing the ignore feature .

I echo the sentiment to make a ticket and speak to a GM! That is harassment and will be dealt with, especially if they are circumventing the ignore.

It sucks that people feel the need to act that way but I have to say that it really is a them problem and says much more about their lack of “something” then it does about you. I hope you can go back into game and don’t let one bad apple spoil it for you.

I’ve never had a chance to test it myself but I wonder if the “/ignore Player - Player not found” issue is a result of the Appear Offline function?

Is not the person circumventing the feature. Is the feature that do not work properly.

If you right click on the name and press ignore sometimes it does not work, but if you write /ignore playername-playerrealm it should work.

Whatever the problem was, is for sure not the player choice to avoid the ignore.

I’ve only ever ignored*(reported) someone once ever, but as far as i know, if you report the player, they automatically get ignored as well(or at least how it should work).

Once, a player invited my recently boosted tank for a +4. Went at the stone, summoned the remaining players and then the leader kicked me.

I asked why I got removed and no answer. Then I noticed the group was open again, logged my 447 main, listed for that group, got insta invited.

Waited the lead to put the key in and alt-f4.

Hope that ahole enjoyed.

It’s a temporary ignore that lasts until your next logout, as I understand it. At least it used to be.

Are you sure? I reported a wts boost spammer (was in one of those moods so don’t judge me) and it auto ignored them and they are still on my ignore list, literally the only person on my ignore list because I don’t tend to report people or ignore in game.

It could be the system has changed, I’m not entirely sure! Past experience is that people I’ve reported (for spam, for example) don’t wind up on my ignore list, though.

But that was the point, there were no effort from the player to circumvent the ignore system, it’s the ignore system that flat out didn’t worked.

I got a message that the report was successful, which yes, should have auto ignored the player, but that didn’t happened either . . .

I’ve had a couple of those ridiculous kicks.

Once at the meeting stone when everyone was summoned. I was tired so I didn’t care but the one dps messaged me asking if I left or got kicked. Told him and he said “they wanted their friend in instead.” And proceeded to use a myriad of fun expletives in their direction. He left the group as well.

Another one was only yesterday and for a dumb reason. I messaged lead after and he said “we changed the key, so we kicked. You’re still welcome to join though.”
