I attempted to complete this achievement today on this character, who has both glaives since last February + of course the “Warglaives of Azzinoth” achievement which is required before you can get “I’ll hold these for you till you get out” FoS.
So I went into Black Temple solo, took down Illidan (and just for fun, I had the glaives equipped, even though it’s not needed), but the achievement didn’t trigger.
I’m quite confused by this. Found a video of someone accomplishing this solo, during BC TW without any problems. Yet, on Wowhead, I came across information suggesting that you need to form a Timewalking raid group for it.
I tried to submit a ticket, but when I access the character selection screen, I only see classic realms and characters listed, which is confusing since I was inside Black Temple when I attempted this (perhaps a support bug). So I have nowhere else to turn.
If any of you who have already achieved this could shed some light on the matter, I’d greatly appreciate it. What am I missing?
Once you get the Achievement “Warglaives of Azzinoth” you then need to head into the Black Temple Timewalking event in ANY character and defeat Illidan again. Because you have the Warglaives of Azzinoth Achievement you’ll then be rewarded with another Achievement called “I’ll Hold These For You Until You Get Out”. This now rewards you with the Demon Hunter only privilege of being able to transmog the Warglaives onto any weapon.
So just to reiterate you DO NOT need to do both of these steps on your Demon Hunter. They can be done on any characters as long as they can equip the glaives for the achievement in step 1.

I still have the same question, and I apologize if I’m a bit slow on grasping this: is it necessary for me to create a raid group, interact with the NPC, get teleported into Black Temple, and then fully clear the entire instance to obtain the FoS? Or should simply attempting it solo on any character suffice? (As it didn’t in my case.)
It is easier to just open Dungeons and Raids → Premade Groups → Custom → Find Groups and look for Black Temple.
You will usually find someone doing the raid. Apply and wait for the teleport.
