Illegal 3rd party software? or legal tool?

Greetings, fellow web dwellers.

In these days of AI assistants and helpful tools for gaming, what is the specific ruleset for utilization of tools in World of Warcraft? Thinking here specifically of tools that can perform actions upon requests like “Wingman-AI” and “VoiceAttack”, where trough conversations with the AI it can perform button presses upon request, send messages with the ingame chat, and more. All executed by utilizing keyboard shortcuts.
Like i would say that i need a portal to stormwind while playing my mage, and it will press enter, write “Cast Portal: Stormwind” and hit enter again, effectively making my mage cast portal. no code injection what so ever. but is it legal?

Anything that controls your character or causes input in the game that’s not done by you hitting the keyboard or mouse is considered “Illegal 3rd party software”.

Blizzard has the following defined in the ToS:

Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein: any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;

Your fancy AI doohikkies fall under that, especially the last part.

You can see their statement here:

Generally, Blizzard will not whitelist 3rd party programs because they can be modified later to exploit. It does also not use the API’s ingame macro system either.
