Illidan, void connection?

So, while running some old raids earlier. Something that kinda stuck me was Illidan during the final fight of Mythic Nighthold. When beating Gul’dan and Illidan’s Demon Within appears, it is covered in Purple (void colored) Markings, instead of the Green Markings he had when unleashing the Demon Within during The Black Temple.

Also the line of dialogue “Behold the shadow of what is to come, the endless darkness that shall consume your World.” doesn’t exactly sound like Sargares’ intent.

He also stays behind, presumably to fight or guard Sargaras. But we know the void also has an interest in the Seat of the Pantheon, due to the dialogue spoken by Knife Xal’atath when arriving there “Long have we sought entry into this realm! To think we have a mortal to thank for giving us our foothold. Your service will be remembered!”

So what exactly was that Foothold? Just knowing the Location or the fact that we left Illidan behind, maybe?

Edit: It also made me think that the expansion “The Last Titan” may refer to some singular Titanic Survivor, if the Void attacks the Seat itself.

To me it’s just same as old warlocks demon form/Illidan W3 form and nothing about void

Have you not seen the story lately? If Illidan came back, he would say something like “Vengeance is uncivil, please follow our corporate statutes”. There is no way they’re gonna have him fight in the void realm to become the strongest, that’s something old Blizzard may have done, not new Blizzard

Warlocks, Demon Hunters, Demons, they don’t draw their power out of fel only, but shadow and fire, too.
Warlocks are darkness. Darkness does not mean void, it means cracked up warlocks dark intents for the world.
When a warlock, demon hunter, demon, priest use too much shadow magic they show signs of transformation.
Why Blizzard switches from purple (WC3) to fel to purple for Illidan, it most likely is just a design choice. Not the best one, but nothing more to it.
You can try to explain his purple colouration in there because he drew more shadow energy to fuel his power :dracthyr_shrug: Yeah…some things are just that: Design choices without thinking about the lore.

Sargaras will be the last titan if they going with a redemption arc since it was the void who corrupted him… the final(read last) titan so that would be the one in Azeroth

Illidan would sacrifice just about anything to reach his goal.

Except one thing.
His beloved “Tyyraaandeee”

Oh no…now I’ve got Malfurions crying with Illidans voice in my head x.x
