So to start off, I’m a super casual player who mostly fools around with trivial content, levelling & other fun stuff. LFR has for years been a part of that fun package. This expansion however I must allow myself to say I am dissapointed that getting high enough Ilvl for LFR is so timetaking. I need a minimum ilvl of 350 to get access to the other 2 raids. Meanwhile uldir only gives me 340ilvl from the boss drops… So this leads me unable to gear up for those raids by doing uldir. I used to level up my gear like this in all the other expansions… Now I sit here with a 10ilvl defecit that I’m struggling to cover, and upgrades from AH can easily cost 70-80k gold.
So, what I’ve done up to now is get gear from bg’s & purchasing the gear i can actually afford, but this takes time. I’ve been 120 since august 15th and I’m stuck at 347. I do lots of levelling & switching between wow & other games. I can’t sit here and play 10 hours a day just to hope that i can get rng’d a 375 bg item.
I dislike this. I don’t know if writing this will help, but I wanted to let it out atleast.
Casuals like me exist, and making LFR gearing so time consuming is an annoyance.
I have an army of alts that don’t do anything other than world quests, emmisaries, invasions, world bosses, warfronts. They range from 377-395 ilvl. Even casual players can meet the requirements, even if you only gear from those sources, eventually it will go up.
World quests and emissary scale with your ilvl until 370 for WQ and 395 for emissaries, War front rewards 340 (aratis) or 355 (darkshore) per win and 385/400 ilvl with the quest.
World boss spawn each week across zandalar & kul’tiras and may drop 355ilvl pieces. When the Aratis WF is avaible for the other faction you can find a WB on the open world map which drop 385 ilvl, same for Darkshore with 400ilvl loot.
Do the conquest bar through random BG / brawl / arena or War Mode faction assault which reward 60 conquest for 5 WQ in WPVP.
Every 500 conquest you get 1 385ilvl piece from the quest and another the next week from the pvp chest next to the pnj. (only 1 loot per week from the chest though, even with 2 conquest bar filled)
You can also join dungeons (heroic drop 370 iirc), do the faction assault (370 too)
These are many ways you can gear without buying stuff from the AH in the current patch. There’ll be more in 8.2.
The 5 man system is there to bridge that gap. Heroic drops 360 afaik? do m0 dungeons…2 drops or a lucky wf/tf might change your predicament.
And i’m not talking loads of invested time, you can do two runs in an hour, for you it’ll take maybe slightly more but you can do it in an afternoon.
I’ve only ever done 1 Mythic 0 back in 8.0 (because I was forced to by Blizzard to complete a frickin storyline - yes I’m still salty about that). Rest of the gear mainly came from warfronts and emissaries.
Its probably easiest to level up your character as a super casual player TBH. Just pop in and do whatever WQs give a gear upgrade, do the world bosses once a week, warfronts when you can then log off!
You can do it quicker with PVP and mythics also but that takes more time and effort. The truly casual player doesnt care how long things take!
If you don’t want to partecipate in any kind of group content wich require a minimum of coordination you can gear up your character with World Quests, the ilv of these items scale based on what you wear, so you will eventually reach the ilv requirement for the LFR.
Do the Warfronts when they are up, especially the Darkshore one wich gives a free 400 ilv.
I’ve done this for something like 3 of my lowest ilv alts and they all range into the 385 / 395 ilv.
DO NOT buy BoE (Bind on Equip) epic from the AH because you don’t need them, these items doesn’t fit you playstile so you would basically lose golds for no gain at all. I’ve bought alot of BoEs but that’s because i want to run Heroic Raid with my alts so i needed to be able to atleast have a decent ilv on them, but if you don’t care about this kind of content, you will only lose golds.
Yeah, I have a recent alt that hit 120 a little over a month ago. Almost no activity at 120. World Quests occasionally but not every day, and never more than an Emissary plus maybe one or two possible gear upgrades, zero dungeons, zero LFR, one Warfront, zero purchases of gear. Ilevel 377 right now.
I can find lots to criticize in BfA gearing, the stretch, and the scaling, the Azerite, the gaps, and the randomness (oh Gawd, the randomness) and I could go on, but Blizzard have provided adequate - more than optimal - methods of gearing your characters through random queued content.
Sure. Why not just make all chars 120 and 420 ilvl by default upon next log in?
People would probably complain that spending a few minutes picking their name and hairstyle is too time consuming.
I don’t wanna keep this going much further so I’ll keep this reply a bit general.
Look, y’all’re saying a lot. Some say go do Wquests (Which is fine) but that’s gonna take some time since i faction changed this character a few days ago and therefore have 0 progress on zandalar, but hey. I can do that in a few weeks time.
To those who say i troll are fooling themselves. I’m not very good at this game, not very efficient either, but I still wanna have access to all content without ilvl farming like crazy. To think that this request warrants me as a troll is unfathomable.
I ALWAYS did content this way, ever since raid finder first came out in cata. This is the first expansion ever where I can no longer “progress” through the LFR tiers by gaining LFR gear. Which, is bogus at best.
I’ve done this stuff for 11 years, I’m not interested in competing or being good anymore. I just want to see the content that blizzard creates. The content they WANT me to see.
Don’t have anything more to say than that, those who gave constructive tips. Thank you, I will keep your answers in mind. This threads done its course.
