Image Sharpening on Shadowlands

Hello,

I have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (pilot latest version 451.67).
Image Sharpening (first option in NVIDIA control panel) is a very impactful option that makes a huge difference to my eyes and makes the game looks way better. I think i tried every single graphic option and monitor options to help my eyes but it’s very hard for me to play without Image Sharpening. I usually set it at 0.33 with ignore grain 0.17.
I dont think there isnt any in game parameter that controls it, afaik it comes only from the control panel configuration.

It works perfectly with the retail version of the game but sadly i am not able to make it work for the Shadowlands beta.
The two games are installed in the same wow directory (_retail and _beta) and have exactly the same in game Graphics and Advanced parameters. When i change Image Sharpening parameter under Global Paramters in NVIDIA control panel, and restart the games, it has an effect with retail version but no effect on the shadowlands beta. The difference between the two is very clearly visible even on the character login screen (same race, i used a troll).

I tried to apply custom parameters to the two programs under the second tab in the control panel, it doesn’t work either.

I’m sorry i hadnt enough space to explain this in the in-game beta bug report, and i’m not sure this is something like a bug or maybe only i have this problem. Also i am not able to start a topic under In development > Shadowlands beta bug report so this section was the only one i found that could be appropriate.

Thank you

A lot of game designers don’t like users altering how the game looks, and indeed Blizzard has been known to ban people for using 3rd party graphical filter programs in the past.

So maybe this change is “by design”, to stop people altering how it looks?

As of today 18/08/2020 NVIDIA released a new driver. With this version the Image Sharpening issue is now fixed on the beta and PTR aswell. Thanks
