Imagine if they had Hunger & Thirst meters!

I’d love a good survival mode.
That combined with an rpg is my favorite flavor.
It was the best part of fallout 76 until they removed it due to “popular”* demand.

The crux of the matter would be though if this is what the majority would enjoy. People who got into WoW did so because it’s an mmorpg and has been for the past 20 years, turning it into another genre or a hyrbid is quite drastic and not what people initially signed up for.

It certainly would be interesting to see such a shift no doubt, but I don’t think the vast majority would be in favor of it.

They would never do this. Remember they removed Hunters having to feed their pets because of the whinging. People just want to logon, jump into some queue, kills some mobs and get purples. Sad I know but it is the way it is!

I would love an RP mode though, similar to what they did with Skyrim. Where you have to eat, drink, sleep, weather etc… I originally thought I would hate that in Skyrim but I actually liked it as it made me need to do something different all the time. I would also like notice boards with random quests or a messenger rushing up to me with a quest that doesn’t necessarily involve killing X to get Y. Just something a bit more deeper!

I would love that, too! Make it optional to indulge in when you feel like it.
However I believe the cost of implementing such a mode would outweigh the profit it would generate. I’d love to be proven wrong on this but yeah, people play this first and foremost for it being an mmorpg and those who love survival games prefer to play actual survival games or rpg games like Skyrim or all the farming games that are out there that make you eat and sleep.

Combining the two would be a great experiment but it would be exactly that, an experiment and the time to take gambles with mmorpg’s is sadly over.

Agreed, and I already said in an earlier post that I did not think the majority of players would like/accept it.

My comment was only to suggest that such a hybrid would be my ideal game, it always comes down to personal taste. Although I am aware that others may hate such a thing, it would be something I could really sink some time into :smiley:

İt’s rare, that MMO games stick to one genre. Certainly, WoW is not “clean”, what with dragonflying spreading to the main quest, whatever genre this element from Spyro is (racing? Platformer?).
And thats wonderful. Whenever wow premiered it was mainly a Korean mmorpg, which I mean you can’t expect a person to be cleaning trash for main gameplay for 20 years.
As far as hunger, cold etc. it’s pretty conventional for an RPG, so no eyebrows would be raised by adding it to wow.
İn fact, Blizzard did PUBG last spring with the plunderstorm.
So yeah, the more they steal from other games, the better, and it always has been the case for blizzard

Unfortunately in this game, most people dont even like to interrupt nevermind cater to character needs.

If this was implemented in WOW (as actual meters) it would probably just act like pet happiness from days of yore. Ergo, it would either become a non-mechanic or a minor annoyance.

And if this meant to add immersion, thirst meters would be pointless for shaman and monks, who heal with water and mist. Mages can literally just pull food and drink out of their hats. And forsaken, death knights and earthen don’t actually need to eat and drink.

I mean there should just be hardcore servers for retail, the same we have with hardcore servers for vanilla. people would decide themselves, if they want to play this way or not

Fact is, mages sold ports back in classic, and palas and druids were at times PvP bosses to other classes, so there is nothing new or bad about imbalances for people, who like class flavour

It’s not a different genre, it’s basically taken what Gw2 had for a long time with the desperate need to one up it so people will be happy with it and not point out the blatant rip off x) I still prefer Gw2’s mount system but I am glad they improved the WoW one and give the option to choose the between then two. (I know that doesn’t apply to TWW yet but pathfinder will unlock normal flying.)

This is highly subjective! Clearly there’s plenty of players who have been loyal to WoW for this long because it remained true to what it is an mmorpg first and foremost. That is what people signed up for, that is what people enjoy. Things change, everything does, but if the change is too drastic then it might not retain a lot of people as they did sign up for something else entirely initially.

Loremasters and those playing WoW for the story are sadly a minority. Plunderstorm was a come and gone type of deal, it did not stick around. Are you suggesting the same should go for survival elements? If no, then this is not a good example, you cannot compare an event that was time limited and people knew that up front to a wide reaching change that is going to be here to stay.

I am 100% of the same opinion - but - and this is a big but! Not everything they can steal from other games and genres can and will work well with WoW.

My take on this:

As someone who only found one survival game so far that hooked me, I cannot say I would enjoy the genre’s iconic points here in WoW. Would it be interesting to see? Absolutely! Would I enjoy it? Absolutely not. Would it overall make WoW better? Highly debatable.

I see and I agree 100% with that. The crux as I stated before to someone else is, whether or not it would be profitable for Blizz to invest dev power in to implement this. It would be an experiment and experiments are not liked by shareholders in this dying genre.
