Imagine if wow

Had no pve questing, no open world, no dungeons, only pvp maps.
That surely wouldn’t work right? Hah what a dumb idea…
Who would want to play that?? No achievements, no mounts, no transmogs, only some mtx in a shop. Horrible idea actually.

/queue avengers infinity war music with distorted bass:

SuperData Research estimated that Overwatch brought in more than
$565 million in sales on personal computers along by the end of 2016, making it the highest-grossing paid game for personal computers that year

See? People suuuuurely wouldn’t plaaaaay wow anymore if we removed mythic/raid gear from battlegrounds riiiiiiiiiight guuuuuys??

/puts on ALL the clown makeup in the world

Correct. Because they would play an FPS. For example, Overwatch.

Not every competitive PvP player loves pewpew games or 5 button MOBAs.

Ok? Sucks for them. I don’t want my game designed for their needs.

Aren’t they called tournament realms?

Yes. Kinda like butchering an MMORPG until it becomes an FPS. Oh wait.

As long as you put “Power” in the cash shop.

Nothing is fun unless you can either pay or gear up to make “Skill” a non-issue

League of Legends bought in $1.5b in revenue (note PURELY COSMETIC SKINS) in 2019 but its got about 100m players. Whats your point?

Sure remove quests, open world, pve and all that the game would die pretty goddam quick.

im not sure what you’re getting at anyways? Bitter bcoz a mythic raider owned you?

I can agree that they could indeed throw every thing wow is out the window if it meant WoW finally get some lewd skins.

Man you all turned full custard mode?
Where did I say I want a 5 button fps game?
Are you really incapable of envisioning wow pvp as it is, with simply balanced rounded classes, spec and talent selections?

It would be a seperate queue mode, you enter and activate whatever 1-3 (2 for dh, 4 for druids) spec you feel playing in that map, use a presaved talent / perk loadout and play wow like you normally do, without having to worry about someone crushing you just “because he has better gear”. Scaled to uniformed baseline units. Absolute win. Player skills shine again.

Old wow would remain the same, nothing taken from you.
Just added this new different FAIR BG mode for people who want to pvp in BG’s but don’t want to / have time to grind mythics/raids for a forced gear requirement. Completely doable and nobody loses anything. Actually… people would love this so much that those geared players would have longer queues and would have to fight each other more. Oh what a shame. Not. Seems like I just exposed all the tryhards whose single goal is to outgear stomp on lowbies. Pathetic.

bonk

to horny jail with you!

I mean you have that already. You can chose talents and such in the wait area before the arena starts. Specs will never be as balanced as you seem to want. Next you’ll be complaining that glad geared players are stomping you.

How would you monetise this PvP WoW tho?

Considering your example “Overwatch” still has loot boxes.

Just add it to the core game. A fair bg mode.
Seperate queue.
Doesn’t cost a thing. People would love it fleeing from the current cancer gear-is-everything bg’s.

You could even scale down to your favorite bracket lvl 19, 29, 39 etc with certain talents locked as they would be.

The easiest way to do this is literally just temporarily morph a players gear into generic gear where everyone has the same stats according to their class and even spec. If you see someone with more life/armor/mana than you that’s because they got buffs from party members in that bg or some talents / perks. Give and take. Ups and downs. Balanced. Fair. But hey, we all know most of you don’t want that.

You realise “Lower bracketts” were fun because people could gear their characters to BiS and roflstomp others right? “Twinking” is the fun part, not the PvP itself.

I’ve heard of people going as far as to use Naxx enchants for a level 19 in classic WoW.

And once again…

WoW is not a proper PvP game.

It will never be a proper PvP game.

Most WoW PvPers don’t actually want it to be a PvP game. They want OPed gear and meta classes so they can feel “powerful” against other players, especially PvEers.

Not saying the current system can’t be improved…

But WoW is not a PvP game.

Yeah thanks for the newsflash that I’ve been saying the last 10 years, most wow andies don’t want a fair skill based pvp match, they want to overpower others and grief them by borderline exploiting these gear loopholes. I double dare blizz to give us a alternative uniform fair BG queue where true skill matters instead of gear. Just do it. Give it to us and see how popular it becomes, how alone all the twinks will be left crying they have to actually perform against others without their godmode cheats.

But that is where the fun lies in WoW’s PvP tho… to see yourself one shot someone or just vastly overpower them…

That’s the neighours weird kid who burns ants with a magnifying glass and later has a high risk of becoming something akin to a school shooter imo, to those I’d like to suggest getting help.

And even if that’s what every health expert suggests, I’m not for removing the current BGs. I’m saying we need a alternative to it, where people who want fairness can pvp.

Twinking and the fun of lower level BGs died a long time ago with all the scaling and heirloom gear that got introdiuced.

But there’s plenty of guilds dedicated to level 19-ish PvP on classic.

please tell me ur joking.

how does even what u’ve written make sense, Ur taking a FPS Playerbase and comparing to its Implementation into a MMORPG?..

Its not rocket science, we know the PvP community in the gaming genre overall is higher then the pvE Community. thats why MMORPGS are dying out. however we also know the Vast majority of the PvP Community would also not play a MMORPG>

PvP based games offer no gear progression, no timegated Content and no power gain. u get everything off the bat such as Overwatch. you donty actively upgrade urself or invest in gear progression. its purely based on PvP Combat.

So your actually wrong.

the vast majority of the PvP playerbase would still Reject the idea of playing a MMORPG. whe ntheres 100 Genres better suited to PvP within.

mmorpgs, will never be good at PvP.
