WoW 11.0 is announced
Blizz says it’s going Free to play , seasonal battlepasses ontop. Buying the expansion just gives you some tenders , optional mount , 70 boost and S1 battlepass.
Housing is in the game but it’s microtransactional , like different interior design packs.

What’s your honest reaction to all of it ?
I’d likely quit the game and find a new MMO to play. Making the game free-to-play will make it a hotspot for hackers, and also making it microtransactional will probably make dungeons and raids pay-to-play per instance, which would kill the game for people who are into M+ or dungeons in general.
I’ve not enjoyed a single game going F2P. I understand companies do it when they feel they’ve played out the subscription model and would rather try to make all the money via microtransactions/battle passes or offer a sub in addition to free to play.
I am not hopeful if that change came. F2P brings the most undesirable elements to games.
I would probably watch from afar and see how it plays out.

I’d buy it, but I’d be very worried about it being f2p.
That usually means there’s going to be an influx of non-invested players (and bots and goldfarmers) and that’s usually not the best thing for the game.
That would kill the game. I wouldnt even hang around tbh.
I would imagine they might do it though is the sad thing. The company is so greedy and money grabbing (triple dipping tenders) that I honestly wouldnt be suprised if it did this.
They might think Wow is dying, so look to milk the last money of the people to invested to hang around. If I was a souless vampire that should never have been in games, thats what I would do.
The truth is that the whole industry (almost) has been infected with these parasites over the last ten years and have boiled the frogs so slowly that we barely noticed. Now all our favorite IP’s are full of battlepasses, cash shop splash screens, gold tokens, transmog and dungeons sold via micro transactions etc. Fun while it lasted but now destroyed by corporate greed.

You forget one thing to kill the game completely.
Everyone has energy level and participating in dungeon/raid/bg/arena spends some of it. When you are out of energy - you can wait for it recharged on the next weekly reset or use a little energy booster for just $0.99! Or buy a great deal pack of 100 energy boosters for just $79.99!
And don’t forget, premium battle pass upgrade (on top of regular seasonal battle pass) gives you twice amount of energy for every week as a generous gift from us to you for being such a dedicated fan!
F2p would be disastrous for WoW

If they made free to play uptoo previous expansion , would keep Dragonflight relevant much longer
If they take the bite can purchase new expansion and dive into like the rest of us

Sure there’s a new mysterious old god on a unknown titan facility hinted in DF and a unknown continent also hinted in DF
We are going to have a space expansion at some point.
FtP is a poor model for social mmo.
Depends on what is in battlepass.
If it has enough cosmetic staff to make entitled NEETs to seethee about corporate greed I am game.
