Imagine for a second you made it so that you tripled the cooldown on Wild growth, and swiftmend, but then made it so that every time you cast regrowth the cooldown of each spell would be reduced by say 3 seconds.
You could tweak those numbers, so that when a druid is healing flat out in raids they get the same amount of swiftmends/wild growths, as they do right now. The problem is when they stop healing, and start trying to dps this change would become very painful as dpsing would suddenly make there core cooldowns they need for efficient healing come up much slower.
Lets be honest it would probably kill druid as a healer in mythic +. Yet this is exactly the world a holy priest lives in with it’s holy words. If casting smite could reduce the cd on holy words, then we would just be trading flash heal healing for damage. The way it is now were also trading our cool downs, and it’s just way to painful to dps, and holy priest suffers a lot compared to any other healers when it tries to dps.
That thread was more about the fact, that it’s really disappointing that the m+ meta is looking like it will be the same as in BFA. With the latest disc nerfs it seems like resto druid is looking like the strongest m+ healer, and holy priest is looking to be on the bottom followed by resto shaman. It seems like blizzard has done very little to address m+ healer balance.
This thread is about a specific issue with holy, which is the spec is punished for dpsing, more than any other healer which is a serious weakness going into higher keys. Fixing that would not make holy stronger in raids, it would not make holy op in m+, but it would make it better in M+
Are you accounting for the absorbs they’re putting on you and the damage they’re preventing? Or the extra damage they’re providing to help kill things faster? As a rule of thumb, the more healing you have, the more healing you’ll need. A holy priest is healing you for more because that’s basically all they do.
Not to say that holy is bad per se. I’ve done my +15s just fine.
But when all your class does is heal 90% of the time, you can expect to be healed more often.
ages ago i remember a point where 2000 resto druids had done a +20 and like 5 holy priests had.
Even if you look now, the highest any holy priest has done is +25, for disc its +28 so a little better, yet for resto druid it’s +31, and for holy pala its +32. ALthough i’d say for most of the expansion resto druid has been on top, and kind of still is.
If you’re a best in the world druid healer you can push a lot further. a +25 for a resto druid is hard sure, but 100’s of resto druids have done it, yet it’s near impossible for a holy priest
I refuse to play with both holy and disc priests when I tank. I played a holy priest myself but it’s abandoned now since blizzard has no intent to fix it in SL. Even my shaman has an easier time healing m+ than my holy priest.
These are numbers my priest can only dream of:
That’s healing surge. Spammable, stronger than holy word serenity.
That’s chain heal. Disgustingly strong compared to prayer of healing. Prayer of healing gets nowhere close to 200k on crit heals.
Doing something wrong? Serenity has a 1 min cd, on my priest that’s 473 it heals for… 109k. Healing surge is far stronger than serenity and it doesn’t even have a CD, lmao. I could only dream of reaching 345k on a serenity without CDs, meanwhile healing surge on my shaman gets to that and above regularly and is spammable with no CDs.
KR I did on my shaman I was doing up towards 400k healing surges, several in a row, when the tanks hp was jumping and down on zul and the dps was taking ages to kill him. If I had been on my priest, we would have wiped, no way I could’ve dealt with that kind of damage on my priest.
Holy priest is the bottom trash. Shaman is far better than a holy priest. Shamans deal more damage and deals better with tank receiving a large amount of damage over time.
