So i made a break with WoW for few months, went to see how other RPGs are doing like, Aion, Gw2, Tera, FinalFantasy-14, Elder Scrolls…
Gave a month of playing on my old chars there, and realised how all those games have same healer format and that is:
healers got “Healing Per Second” at same levels as damage classes are dealing damage to them. But also got offensive power which are not to be taken lightly.
Meaning that if a healer makes mistakes a DPS class can easily kill it given that it played its class well.
But also that a healer can kill DPS classes if he is a good player.
That brings us to the next point: Healers in PvP WILL OUTHEAL damage you do to their team mates, BUT require good rotation and cooldown usage.
Getting interupted on major heal twice in a row can easily be fatal. You have to kite, and YOUR TEAMMATE MUST MAKE IT 2v2. If your teammate lets you deal alone vs 2 enemies. YOU ARE DEAD. Due to sheer dps.
And this is very pleasant experience as I AM a healer and i got suprised at how much skill I need to deal with good dpsers, how much my teammate must help me in 2v2 and how Much that means… its literally difference between life and death. In matter of seconds.
Than I returned to WoW, made mistake of paying sub again for half baked game and couldnt believe how wrong healer class is here.
-Instead of:
-fragile
-squishy
-strong if left to cast class

you are like a GOD in WoW
-You are tanky on level with tank classes
-You CAN get interupted 5 times in a row, but it wont matter because you WILL survive any 1v1 or even 2v1 dps and heal back up to full like NP.

Yesterday I played my Hpriest, and helped a friend clear world bosses when we encountered two horde players, also a dps and healer.
-our dpsers couldnt kill each other due to our OP heals like literally, someone presses 15 butttons to deal damage, I press 1 heal to negate it all and even overheal a bit
Than they switched to try and kill healers, but that HAD EVEN LESS IMPACT LOL.
A mage joined them for 3v2 and I outhealed their damage COMPLETELY. Some running around trees and rocks, bit of CC, but I was Full. Even in kidney shot I was surviving with 30% hp and one heal puts me on 90%…

And i just got bored and walked away for 5 minutes until they gave up too. Later I checked the rogue he and healer had 2400 rating which is enough to say they know what they were doing.

So are healers in WoW played in 90% casses by very bad players who are unable to play such versatile class and instead QQed when they die 2v1 after failing half their spella on top of i, and Blizzard buffed them to oblivion amd changed healer purpose and removed their weakness of being squishy but removing their dmg too. I imagine that its bwcause low skilled masses of healers couldnt do both heal/dps/cc, they QQed and now we got Healing Gods, which just CANT DIE when played by experienced players.
TLDR: Healers should get melted 2v1 and should have problems when facing good 1v1 dpser. They should have SOME damage themselves. But be squishy like mages (talking about damage intake when focused), as they ARE mages themselves.
Not OP RaidBosses where I can outheal 3 people damaging me… or where I can live EASILY IN 2v2 while my teammate is disabled and cannot help me.
point of PvP should be:
-Cc teammate and focus the healer quickly 2v1. And if his teammate doesnt help him? He should die to 2 dpsers.
Right now when I get kidney shot of 6 seconds, my main tought is “I hope they wont kill my teammate in that time”
Because I will heal him to full in 2 globals,lol and because they cant kill me in that kidney.

you know a RPG design is BAD when you CC healer to kill his teammate instead the other way around…
Remember that weird phase in Legion where Hpals with Avenging Crusader were terminators?
Is it still like that now I wonder…
As long as talents like that exist, healers will be incentivised to specc more into DPS capabilities to complement the dmg output rather than focus solely on healing/positioning.
This goes back to a change they made some time ago, in early Pandaria if I remember correctly (I’m sure others may remember more accurately). They tweaked healing in respect of pve but allowed those changes to apply to pvp and almost overnight made healers nearly unkillable unless you had 3 or more dps on them.
It is just INSANE to be able to outheal TWO dpsers on yourself. I don’t think the healing numbers need to be tweaked.
But rather the damage healer classes take from DPS classes needs to be tweaked.
Healers should sweat and feel pressured when a DPS is on them. They should take damage, they should feel that interupt on their castings be scary…
They SHOULD TAKE DAMAGE.
Right now it seems like they are made like this:
-OK, healers need to survive 10 seconds chain stun, and 3 interrupts without Dying while being DPSED by two -three people…
loL… Like Heck even ONE person should be able to take them down if they let you interrupt 3-4 of their main heals, without baiting your “kick” without kiting you, etc… they SHOULD feel pressured …
right now, I (the healer) I can stand vs ANY TWO DPS CLASSES 2v1, and just mindlessly spam EXACTLY 3 buttons to survive for AGES…
Which is just beyond stupid to be honest. Healers SHOULD be a target. RIght now you are the LEAST focused because you take same if not less damage than TANKS, and you should be fragile mage like caster…
That’s not true. Main change happened in MoP when they didn’t want healers to go oom mid fight and stand there. Till the end of Cata you had to manage your mana well and manage mana CDs in raids. Blizz designers that it’s boring and healers being forced to spamheal and using proper rotation is more fun (which is not). That’s why they changed healing. They went to far so in MoP we had Battle Fatigue then replaced with dampening.
You cant kill healer with brain in 1v1 get good and stop complaining aaa oh wait you are yet another alliance baddie.
2 brained dps can kill 1 brained healer.
Yet you have to have brain skill and same gear lvl ± something what is OP lacking greatly.
Healers can be soloed in 2v2 arena. Just dont compare world pvp (wich has no dampening) to rated pvp. Try some skirmishes or rated arena and if you are unkillable, link 2k rating. If that were true, we will see a team if two healers in 2v2 or 3 healers in 3v3…
For paladins this is nothing new,the coined term is Shockadin,and it came first time ever durring Cata,where you would pop wings and spam exorcisam,you where range and delt tons of dmg.Over time it changed from range to being melee,but it still excist,cause of the way mastery and how hpalas work in general.
But healers doing tons of dmg and being unkillable isnt something new too me.I remember wm chaning stances and doing tons of dmg,and you couldnt kill them cause of insane movebility back in mop,also resto druids just moonfire and go bear on your “(back end)”.The only bad dps was always holy prist and rshaman compered to the rest of them.
There is dampening. But thing is in 2v2 if you don’t have a healer. Team with healer will win 100% of the time.
Because dampening kicks too late in the game to matter.
And even in 3v3. Dampening is INCREDIBLY bad design. If you didn’t notice, dampening is usually at 30-50% at over 99% arena matches when the mistakes start counting.
Which means, only when healing is reduced by 50% can mistakes of the healer matter, and how he plays his class.
It means that healers need to take 30-50% more dmg. Or have 50% reduced healing in order to be balanced in 3v3, 2v2, or any kind of PvP…
And I AM A HEALER MYSELF…
So you have yet to meet fire mage with destro lock, or rogue mage or rogue ret or ret dh or rogue monk or monk dh. Those nuke through all dcds stacked at the start of the game…
And arena games are at like 25 percent dampening as soon as gates open.
Healers are not immortal, fella. And in 2v2 its rare to see dual dps. My point is healers do die and are far from immortal. There is no need for rework. Some dps classes need buffs (enh shaman and arcane mage for example). So do some healers (resto shaman, disco priest and holy priest need to catch up with monk, hpal and drood). Remember pvp is a teamplay game. Some classes counter others.
And no one counters healers. I was just in 2v2 vs Sin rogue and WWmonk.
-30% healing poison from rogue, and I healed THROUGH THEIR DAMAGE for 5 minutes while my teammate killed them both
…
Now what are you trying to tell me ? that we are not Broken ? They shouldve raped my butt in 5 seconds 2v1… not the other way around.
