The reason for writing these lines is to send to Blizzard some reflections about the game communities.
I am currently responsible for four multi-faction game communities: the Mythical Plus Community for dummies, the “achievement club for dummies” community, the “dummies go to raid” community and the “Pets and Mounts Club for dummies” Community. I consider that the communities are an irreplaceable instrument for many WOW players, hundreds of people use them every day (like in the Mythical plus Community for dummies) or they allow us to get together to carry out activities specific to each community several times a week (like the rest of the communities that I mentioned before) which improves playability, satisfaction with the game and the players’ relationship with Blizzard. However, I believe that since the communities were incorporated into the game there have not been any updates or improvements to them.
The people who are in charge of the game communities miss some tools that would make it easier for us to keep the lists of active players up to date since, unlike brotherhoods, we cannot see how many months the players have been offline in order to unsubscribe them and thus make room for people who want to enter into the community. In the Mythics plus Community for dummies every month I unsubscribe more than 100 characters due to lack of activity and I have to carry out this “study” by entering the name of the players into the Word of Warcraft character web page, which results in a dedication of many hours just to keep the member lists as updated as possible (the success of communities such the mythical plus for dummies is reflected in the fact that despite the more than 100 members that I unsubscribe every month, all months we reach the population of 1,000 people and with a waiting list of people waiting for entering into the Community).
Unlike brotherhoods, game communities do not have the capacity to generate any economic resources, which greatly limits the activities that can be carried out in them. Any contest or event with a final prize (both in the form of gold or objets like mounts) must be sponsored by my Brotherhood or ask the members of the Community for a donation one month in advance to be able to carry it out. All of this greatly limits the amount of activities that could be carried out within the communities.
In a community like “mythical plus for dummies” in which hundreds of people enter daily, requesting the collaboration of members on topics such as professions is very complicated since, unlike brotherhoods, we do not have a a list that shows who is who in each profession and thus be able to go to the appropriate person to fiil a need. The only way to do this currently is to find someone of the required profession by writing what you are looking for in the community chat and repeat it and repeat it until someone with that profession sees it.
It is also missing for the day-to-day management of the Community that its owner can’t contact its members through the game’s mailbox system. Currently to contact members who are not connected I have to have a pj in each of the realms of the Horde and the Alliance since otherwise such communication is impossible and any help to simplify this would be very appreciated.
These are some ideas that I transmit, with the hope that they will reach Blizzard and will help to improve and update the community system, a system that, I insist, hundreds of people use every day, at least in the dummies communities under muy managment, and that makes our experience in the game much more intense and satisfactory. Play WOW in game communities improves our game, not to mention the possibilities they open up for us when it comes to interacting with so many people.
Thank you so much
All the best
