It is an amazing ability, very fun to use in world pvp. Basically It’s pvp in 3 dimensions, something completely new for wow and incredible, love it.
Problem:
Currently Whirling Surge has a number of restrictions which limits its usefulness:
- It costs 3 ALTERNATE, this is too high
- Cooldown 30 seconds is too long
If those are fixed, it will increase the amount of sky pvp battles which will be fun for players and from a business standpoint will increase play time.
Alternative version
I have an alternative whirling surge improvement idea that may be more dynamic and fun for pvp — to add a long ranged “wind projectile”.

Profit:
- Easy to implement
- Increase average play time
- Improved Whirling Surge can be presented as a new feature that unlocks dragon riding pvp.
And most importanly open the possibility for big sky battles with a lot of players, maybe even sky battlegrounds / pvp zones can be made in the future.
