I have been leveling the last couple of days and thought I’d share an idea to improve quests in old dungeons. On quite a few occasions quests in these dungeon are “collect x of [this item]” and almost always the other four party members also are on these quests. The problem I’ve had is that unlike many modern quests such as those in Broken Isles and Zanadlar/Kul’Tiras where quest items you loot are personal and does not disappear when another player loot it before you, or it has a very short respawn timer. The quest-items in these old dungeons are not personal and they disappear when someone in the party loots them, which makes it very difficult to complete these quests as there are often not enough objects in each dungeon for every party member to complete all quests.
My suggestion is simply to make these quest items so called “personal” so that everyone have a chance to complete all quests in every dungeon. Again meaning that they do not disappear when another player loot it, but of course is removed for the player after looting it so you can’t multi-loot the same object.
I’ve found that these dungeons for example are classic examples where this can be fixed:
Dire Maul (the basket which leads to an ogre costume)
Pro-tip: If you get the Stratholme side where you dont have a quest for Holy Water, you can still get it from crates. I always pick it up there in case I’ll get the other side.
You can pick it up from the ground and from mobs.
There are enough, it’s just that people always jump down to skip trash, and thus miss out on the quest objectives. It’s why I never jump down if I’m the tank.
There are more than enough for a full group to get it.
Same with Utgarde.
There are enough for everyone, pull mobs and take them to the tank if you need to.
There are enough here as well, you just gotta pay more attention.
Correct, only that the Flower one is a bit RNG, since they aren’t really ‘‘quest items’’, you can put 'em on the auction house, since they are (repeatable) turn-in items.
I’ve played WoW since 2006, and I would not create this thread if I did not know that there aren’t enough quest objects for all five party members in each dungeon, which this thread is about. I don’t know why you’d reply saying there is when there actually isn’t. I don’t think you remember the dungeons properly when you wrote something like that.
While I might be able to understand the annoyance, I still do believe it’s somewhat of a lazy/luxury issue… Because really all that people have to do, is to keep their eyes open and actually care to loot the mobs. Only annoyance can be in Utgarde Keep, because if the rest of the group is not up for clearing under the stairs, you have to do a couple of runns to get all the items. But really… there is enough for everybody in the team - in all of them dungeons.
But is it really ninjaing though? I mean, for the majority of the items, when you have reached the desired numbers, you cannot pick up anymore (except from them flowers in Underborg). And again, They actually have made sure that there is enough of the items for everybody, just in a few of the dungeons, you rely a bit on your teammembers to actually be willing to help out.
I use ninja as I do it in combat, often taking about 10 seconds to start dps because I’m gathering the item. And the term ninja refers to looting in combat.
Well I think we all do that. And I guess thats why many people get the idear that “Oh no now there might not be enough for me” but there really is.
I get that the flowers in Wailing Caverns can be tricky, because they are very small and easy to overlook. I got surpriced to see just how many there actually is, when I went there having herbalism for the first time
Don’t you think tho, that there are other people who have been playing this game for a long time and if this would be really a problem other people would have made this thread already? There are thousands of people going trough these dungeons every day, including myself and the only dungeon I had problem with was the Underbog but that was also just sometimes because the flowers are a bit rng wether they drop from the mobs well or not, but in all the other dungeons I could always pick up everything and nobody else ever complained that they couldn’t finish it.
If there wouldn’t be enough quest objectives there would be many many complaints about it already, but the fact is there are enough items in the dungeons maybe except Underbog… but even the Underbog one I can complete most of the time.
