In-game bug reports, do they work?

I have been reporting issues with

Darkmoon decks getting stuck on the 7 regardless of what sigil is used, only way to resolve it is to unequip the item and re-equip it, but even then the bug sometimes persists or comes back after a couple of uses.

The elemental invasion rares not being flagged as being part of the invasion so they drop nothing. This probably effects 2/3rds of them and really kills the chances of getting stuff like the lariat design from them.

Have either of these even been logged as bugs? It feels like i must have personally reported both 10s of times (every couple of months) since they have both been present since Dragonflight launched, it’s a shame if the expansion ends and bugs like this manage to persist throughout the whole expansion.

Title, Yes.

Just because you report a bug, does not mean it is automatically going to get the highest priority, and the entire dev team working on it.

I don’t know about blizzards bug reportage workflow but if its anything similar to places Ive worked in the past, it will be like this.

Bug gets reported → someone will check and see if its a re-report of a known existing bug, and discard your report if it is. → otherwise the bug will get assessed by a manager, a lot of things get reported where the bug is actually known as PEBKAC. If its PEBKAC, it gets discarded. → if its not PEBKAC, it gets tested by a developer to confirm its actually bugged → the results of the testing will assign a severity level → the severity level coupled with the affected scope will create a priority level. → bugs get fixed according to their priority level.

There are bugs still extant in the game that existed from vanilla. Their impact is so low, or just visual bugs. they aren’t worth the development hours to fix.

The bugs mentioned started being reported over a year ago, why would you think I was expecting them to be the “highest priority”? I made no mention of expecting them to be fixed quickly, are you playing devils advocate to try and cause arguments for no reason?

I want to know if they are in the official bug tracker, something a player can’t help with. There are other blue posts in this section where an official bug tracker is referred to.

If they are not in the official bug tracker then either:
the bug reports are not being read
or
the report has been read multiple times and has failed to be added as a bug.

The reason for the title question is because the patch notes are very light on bug fixes in recent times, it feels to me like they are not being addressed properly.

There are hundreds of bugs being fixed each month, many of which aren’t published because they’re quite small, or didn’t impact many players (and spamming everyone with endless lists of bug fixes isn’t very interesting).

On the other hand, and despite the occasional “indie company” memes, we’ve become quite good at identifying, reporting, and fixing bugs over the past 20 years. Some high impact bugs that would be in-game for several months back in the days are now fixed within hours.

Some bugs however require more time to fix. It can be because QA is having a hard time reproducing the issue internally, and I would encourage you to be as precise as possible when reporting a bug. Some bugs that have affected thousands of players in the past (and reported as many times) were reproduced and fixed because one (1) player managed to provide specific information as to what had happened to them. Other times, and as Trovlak mentioned, some bugs are simply not that impactful, and / or require a lot of work, and will be fixed in a later patch.

That being said, you can find the latest hotfixes on the site, if needed.

It wouldn’t hurt to see them published if not daily, at least on a weekly basis so I can compare with hundreds which I have submitted personally. The game feels abandoned, show us something at least.

One of the more exciting things about checking news around the game is seeing constant improvements so when these become absent for a longer time many of us lose interest, much less likely to renew subscriptions.

High impact bugs as you call them, if for example a full reputation reset bug which I have written twice about isn’t a priority, then what exactly does it take to qualify? I refuse to clap over the HS anniversary event improvements because no one can see any effort put into them. It required an absolute minimum of work and it was still completely broken in many ways. I won’t even go into other player frustrations it may have caused.

You don’t even allow suspension talk here, lets be honest, just rename the whole subsection of the forum into Payment Issues because that is the only thing you manage to resolve consistently for better. Still waiting for a fix for those disappearing titles and I have started to notice user made addons on fansites consisting literally of two lines of text which help hide one specific problem, something an indie company couldn’t do for 5 months.

If most obvious problems aren’t addressed for so long we are to believe much work is done behind the curtains?

Thanks for the response, I guess I should have used a better title so the content of my post wasn’t ignored in favour of just answering the title :frowning:

The main questions was whether the 2 “old” bugs listed are even present in the bug tracker? Are they being added and then not being fixed, or just not being added at all?

It is quite demoralising to spend time writing up concise bug reports with the exact conditions on how to reproduce the issue only for them to be ignored, especially when the bug report feature only allows a small number of characters and no images or videos can be provided.

I would be interested in a lot more bug fixing information being published, personally I don’t find the massive amount of class changes published to be interesting, but I can understand why those are important for some people.

Maybe the balance changes and the bug fixes could be split into two different lists of hotfixes instead of being mixed together.

Something needs to change because at the moment you are apparently fixing hundreds of bugs and there is nothing to show for it. If the balance changes are being classed as bug fixes then that isn’t too honest seeing as you can just keep flip-flopping on changing the same class over and over.
