In game shop for appearance?

I always wanted to know about in game shop market for appearance , I know some people will be like NO WAY this is not fun and everyone will have some RARE appearance that TOOK me YEARS to collect. I get it but lets not talk about the RARE ones and talk about appearance that is totally new and can be purchased directly from blizzard shop. Those can be different from the ones that took years to collect or in game. So they are made and meant to be there. Its fun and for me i dont mind to buy them to have some cool style while i play my character.

So what do you think about this and would blizzard consider adding such a thing in the near future?

I’d prefer to earn awesome appearances in game, from quests, dungeons, achievements etc. I’d much rather Blizzard put effort into making these rewards great, rather than spending time and effort to make amazing sets for purchase.

That said, purchasable sets would allow Blizzard to offer appearances which don’t match a particular expansion aesthetic (e.g. like the simple adventure clothes from the recruit a friend rewards) which could be nice as everyone has different tastes and the more variety, the better. Again, I’d rather there was a way for these to be earned (e.g. explorer/treasure hunter achievements) rather than throwing real money at them.

I wouldn’t mind if instead of a new mount every 6 months they would throw a new mog set to the mix. Adding a couple of new items to the shop every now and then isn’t a problem, but I wouldn’t like to see a multiplication of items, having items coming out frequently.

Microtransactions in gaming is bad. If the developers sell cosmetic items, they’ll put less effort into in-game ones to make the cash shop ones “more attractive” by comparison.

Cosmetic MTX lowers the quality of what we have access to.

Stop encouraging this anti-consumer, desperately corpo behaviour.

That is not true at all. There is difference in game effort and in game cosmetic. those 2 are different. Adding appearance to game or mounts will not harm the game play at all, its not pay to win.

The reason im asking for this is because as you can see even mounts they are there for years and its very rare to see new ones available so focusing on this and adding new things will make us exited on getting them to play using them.

There is nothing wrong with this

i’m paying monthly to play. Anything created for the game should be included in my monthly fee.

Gross idea.

If you draw the line at what is acceptable at “it’s not P2W” that says a lot about your knowledge of gameplay. Cosmetics are an important part of gameplay and are used as reward to incentivise content and reward challenges - why else are there mounts from Keystone master & many mythic raids? Why do gladiator mounts and elite PvP tmog sets exist? It’s because they’re part of the reward structure.

And yes, as we can clearly see the cash-shop mounts have far more effort put into them than most in-game mounts and often feature new animations, new textures and new models/skeletons.

Literally the only good that comes out of cash shop is that without them, hostile and toxic corporations (like ActiBlizzard) would just fire more members of their art team between patches, but that shouldn’t be the consumers burden to bear.

We pay $15 a month every month. We pay $60 for expansions every ~2 years. Why do you want to throw even more of your money away instead of demanding better value for the money we do already spend?

Yes, it will. People spend countless hours trying to farm the mount from Jaina, some (me) are still occasionally trying to get the Antoran Charhound.

Vain rewards are a motivation to play. Putting these in the itemshop definitely affects the motivation to play and this it affects the gameplay.

Blizz is smarter than putting vanity in the shop when they get more value out of putting them in the game.

If they were to make new sets, I don’t see why we should want it to be purchaseable from the shop rather than earned by playing the game. Buying something not only costs money, doing so also doesn’t feel rewarding unlike earning it.

Hahah  As we have a quality content right now… or in the past few years.

You can have both of them, The in game earning item is something for the game and can be earned and yes they cant add this in the shop, i dont like it earther but they can add something different that can be brought directly from the shop. Example : Sprite Darter’s Wings that they added, its cool, not bad as a start and i hope we see more of that, it will not effect the game play

and i rather have them “Now” than by doing some conveluted BS or wait for some RnG drop

I’m paying monthly too and i dont mind to pay to have new things for my characters that is ready to use.

Some people like to spend Hours and YEARS to farm a set or a mount and some dont have the time for it so they enjoy one of the ready made set to use along the way until they get what they want

You can still have some cool transmog sets by paying real money :stuck_out_tongue: Buy WoW Tokens and buy the sets from AH. My current set is from AH and its not very cheap.

Its not very cool to others, but it fits my covenant Venthyr and have a perfect match with the Blanchy mount from Revendreth.

You see, You said it ur self, you paid alot to get something from AH so having a shop that have some transmog that costs 15$ or 20$ is better lol

I can see why people wouldn’t like that and they have a point. Once you pay for the game and a subscription on top of it, you expect to get the full experience in game not in the shop.

A shop in a pay to play game shouldn’t even exist.

All in all, I don’t mind the occasional cosmetic like the 6 months sub rewards.

If you want a game that let’s you buy appearances from shop, please go play SWTOR, TERA, Path of Exile or literally half the other MMORPGs. Don’t poison the air here.

A lot of my money goes down the drain that way… stares at ESO and GW2

i see no pobloms with trasmog sets in shop same goes for loot boxes …
Wow is the only blizzard game what dont have loot boxes in shop yet …

Nooo draw the line at loot boxes. That’s basically gambling. I’d really hate them for that - never touch it of course - but a lot of respect would go out the window. Id I’m paying money for something I better know precisely what I am buying.
