In game store goes blank

so I was going to purchase a race change but after selecting realm and character it pops up a blank box with an X in the top right corner. previously I’d had no problems with the in-game store and it would at this point ask for payment details
I tried waiting, ten minutes and no change
I tried googling, got a lot of results with various suggestions, tried them all. nothing worked

I’ve even tried with all non-essential background programs closed except for WoW, deleted interface and WTF (of course I made backups first) and I made sure parental controls are not active even though I knew they couldn’t possibly be

nothing works

Quite odd that after doing all that you have, the issue persists. The only downside to your statement of trying “various suggestions” is that im not sure what those were. Still though, try the follow as that has been known to work aswell:

A full reinstall of the App:

  1. Press the Windows key + R.
  2. In the Run box, type %PROGRAMDATA% then click OK
  3. If present, delete the Battle.Net and Blizzard Entertainment folders
  4. Repeat steps 1-3, but enter %TEMP% , %LOCALAPPDATA% and %APPDATA% instead of %PROGRAMDATA%

Delete the “Utils” folder:

  1. In the Blizzard desktop app, click on Options .
  2. Click Show in Explorer .
  3. Open the World of Warcraft folder.
  4. Find the Utils folder, then delete it.
  5. Run Scan and Repair.

If neither of those work, you can reply to this thread with your system files. To provide them, copy the system file into a website like Pastebin and provide the link using the </> symbol above the text box.

I’ve tried those already without any luck

here’s the system files:

I last used the store on the 31st of May, with no problems and nothing has changed on my computer hardware or software since then (except updating a few wow addons, but as mentioned above I’ve tried without any addons installed)

Looks good though I would be concerned about the amount of RAM you have left available as according to the snapshot you gave, you only have 158MB remaining of 8GB which is quite low!

That wouldnt be causing this issue though. You do have Discord running and traditionally the overlay from that has caused some problems with the game and it’s services so try to disable the overlay function (or ensure it is properly disabled).

If that does not do the trick, try to clear the cache, cookies and temporary internet files from your Internet Explorer browser. Then leave the browser running while you have WoW open to see if that helps.

I don’t use the overlay in discord and have tried it without discord even running
I’ve cleared cache in internet explorer and firefox
shop still doesn’t work :frowning:

So we are ruling out a fair few causes at least, even if it feels like we are getting nowhere. As you are running on Windows 7, i’d like to recommend the following steps. It’s a bit heavy but it should hopefully work:

  • Desktop Composition/Aero settings:
    1. On the Blizzard Application, go to Options > Show in Explorer on World of WarCraft.
    2. Go to the retail folder and right click on the WoW application, then Properties. You should see the Compatibility tab.
    3. Check “Disable Desktop Composition” and “Run as Admin”
    4. Click OK. - Do not close out of the File Explorer, yet.
    5. Close the Blizzard Application completely.
    6. Click on the WoW Application from the File Explorer to launch

If the step above works, edit the Config.wtf using Notepad. Search for or add SET ForceAllowAero “0”

Take your time with these steps and when you try one step, test it out and if it works, you don’t have to spend time with the others. These steps should not affect or alter your experience in other games and such.

Fingers crossed one of these works! :crossed_fingers:

it was already set to run as admin but once I ticked to disable the desktop composition it started working
thanks for the help
