šŸ—£ In-Game Voice Appreciation Tread

Since 2 weeks i always ask before going to arena to go in voice ingame, and here what happen :

  • Winrate increasing
  • Way less toxicity
  • People don’t leave fast after 1 game
  • Better cooperation
  • My friend list is increasing fast

I think the in game voice is really something that people should adopt if they want to avoid toxicity.

The most feedback people fear is to do not speak english correctly : don’t be afraid to speak english, not everyone is born english, so it’s ok if you are russian or french to do not speak 100% english in vocal  !

Lmao, what. How would you think being on voice makes things less toxic?

Before i as playing with toxic people merely everyday i was playing.

It’s been 3 week i didn’t see toxicity in ranked PvP

So i consider it as fact :man_shrugging: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Some of the most toxic people I’ve ever encountered have been on voice chat. In guilds.

In Ranked Battlegrounds, Very many does
And in Arena in PuG it start of

only in PvE not many use it yet
Yet, because can be usefull for PuG in raid

ah seems like its mainly used for pvp then, the thing i never do.

this explains much, never once seen people use it in pve.

And for years it never worked properly or at all for most people.

It removes one layer of anonymity therefore it reduces the toxicity chance (yes, people can’t identify you from your voice, but hearing a person’s voice is more personal than reading their words).

And it’s a well established fact toxicity correlates with anonymity/assumptions of people being unable to identify you consistenly which leads to the idea of ā€œno consequencesā€ regarding the behaviour.

We know this to be the case because the most rage filled nerds in PC gaming are some of the meekest people who wouldn’t say boo to a goose in a real-life situation, particularly if it looks like their ā€œtargetā€ may lay them out.

it’s entirely based upon the idea of:

  • They don’t know me
  • They have no way to visit consequences upon me
  • The whole thing is completely impersonal
There: it is not big deal if I am toxic to this person

Using your voice means it is no longer completely impersonal which means (small as it may be) it will reduce toxicity in PUGs.

There’s also the absolute cringe that is actually hearing someone nerdrage. It’s one thing to read it but to hear someone who may well be a grown adult losing their crap over a video game and mouth off is just…well, it’s one thing to do it at the screen, or with people who know you. But strangers? I doubt as many people are cool with that as they are a random reading their text as ā€œtoxicā€.

i agree with OP, RBG games i’ve joined that mandate a voice chat tend to perform better and be way way less toxic and stick together for longer.

I’ve also never had a problem getting it to work. Each time i’ve gone to use it it has worked perfectly. I must be inconsistent across users? I’ve certainly found it less clunky and arduous to setup that joining a specific discord channel for the purposes of voice chat. Anything that doesn’t require me to be outside the game to do it is a bonus in my books.

Nothing out of the ordinary for blizzard.

This is why I’m so baffled about this lol.

We all just used third party comms, at least they worked

I mostly think that people never reported bug and so Blizzard don’t know they exist.

It’s hard to describe if it’s a sub program who manage the in game voice where the bug can be located to correct it.

Maybe it’s time to end this and make a full list of bug or improvement to fix the in game vocal voice  ?

Since the big overhaul of the voice system it’s been fine but we’re talking early days of voice comms in WoW vs now. Someone brought up TBC, I don’t think we got it working once in Wrath in our guild. However, it’s very very different today from what it was then.

I still prefer Discord over in game comms.

It’s still pretty underwhelming. Discord voice chat is simply superior.
