In next patch silenced m+ leavers won't be able to join groups

  • Silenced players cannot search or apply to active groups.
  • A group will automatically delist and cannot create a Group Finder listing if there is a silenced player in the group.

Wow just wow. This is going to be used by groups as a form of revenge against leavers and ragers. You try to sell something in trade chat for a price a competitor doesn’t like? Them and a few of their friends can now ban you from groups. You give criticism in a BG? You’re pretty much suspended from the game. Rival guilds on a server? Just ban their members from groups with no review. Multiboxers will also be able to block people from groups for days or possible even weeks now with one click. This is terrible. Even FF14 doesn’t let players instantly ban other players without going through a review process.

I really wonder now if this is going to be used as a weapon in m+ against leavers, ragers etc. I guarantee there are going to be groups where someone says “quick silence him!” as soon as someone leaves now that the punishment is so harsh.

In all honesty im not surprised. They will go on and claim “every silence is checked by a moderator” and we all know that this is a lie since the day they implemented as it was discovered to be done entirely automatically by the community itself. And we know it still is an automated mechanic triggered if enough report someone.

Also i wonder if theres a law at least in the EU that could potentially backlash on Blizzard given it would severely reduce the quality of the game and what one could expect given by that the system is automatic the player is literally at the mercy of other players and gets severely punished by it even if hes entirely innocent.

I doubt just four people reporting would get a person silenced.

This is terrible news , hots silence system is a complete fiasco .
Play a lot get silenced , u won’t even dare to say a constructive word because u will be silenced .
Dictatorship is a light word for this systems .
Everything will be automated like they always do .
Pretty sure i’m going to say goodbye just like i did to hots .

It doesn’t take many. If it’s 5 then it’s easy to ask people in your guild to help silence them.

It depends on how many reports it’s going to take for someone to be silenced.

If it takes 10 reports, then yes it’s bad because of issues you mention. If it takes 100 reports then I don’t think it would be an issue.

Also some intelligence can be added to such a system. From example 20 reports coming from the same IP address (probably a 20 accounts multiboxer) could only count as 1 reports, 20 coming from same guild, etc.

Oops I seem to have replied to you specifically.

I would think this is more likely a measure to combat with sellers in LFG.

It definitely doesn’t take 100 reports or anywhere close, that would defeat the point when a group can’t silence you for bad language. Also there are many reports of multiboxers silencing people.

Being alone in a premade usually scares me, now im going to be scared even talking to them.

Doesnt matter. There are cases where people get silenced due to it being an automatic system. Which then gets removed if said person makes a ticket and appeals it. However this shouldnt be necessary. Now actual toxic people could easily abuse it even if they just add up to it. BG chat and Trade chat being the prime offenders here.

The system shouldnt be automatic from the get go. Thats what they claimed. And that was proven to be a lie.

Just look at all the boost advertisers getting silenced because people mass report because it annoys them (and that happens frequently and we know it). Now they even get punished outside of trade activity and they shouldnt even be punished in the first place.

This system should NOT be automatic.

I also think the same as you. But the OP is raising the issue that this feature has the potential be abused to punish innocent players and denying them access to the LFG tool.

I can already see people report and abuse the system just because some one did something wrong or said something just like in hots your team is losing people report you like random game are the end of the world, the whole game just became a terror now not just battleground glad once again i switched for tbc classic.

A report in the LFG tool doesnt net you a silence. It nets you a bann. Silence is reported for spam/language/etc.

And there was nothing to “aim” at the LFG advertisers as the only thing it requires is having 1 guy per language to stalk the bloody thing and bann on sight. An automatic system is just utter facepalm.

Let’s ban all knives since a few people misuse them. There’s clearly no other solution…

It’s punishment for boost advertisers. I’m delighted.

It shows Blizzard are listening - somewhat - to our complaints about boosters. Now there’s real gameplay consequences.

It does matter. It’s not like a group of four people can get someone silenced. It takes a lot larger number of reports.
