So I recently levelled this character and started entering PvP for basically the first time with the aim of getting the awesome Alliance PvP plate set. However, not really having done PvP, I wasn’t quite sure how the reward structure works. I’ve tried to do a bit of research on this on sites like Wowhead, but it wasn’t completely clear to me, so I was hoping to find out here exactly what I have to do to earn the dread gladiator sets.
Do I get these just from the weekly conquest cap? And are there any requirements (i.e, needing to be a certain rating)?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
I don’t know, exactly, so I may end up confusing you.
Do you mean this set:
It also drops from the Arathi Warfront, so the easiest thing is just to spam those Warfronts. Check that out. If that’s the set, you mean, and I suspect it is, that is fast and simple. You get one piece for every warfront you do, so just stay in there until you have them all. Your Sets list under Appearances should clarify.
I heard someone say that the Warfront 340 and 370 sets were distinct, but I don’t know in what way. I don’t think they are separate appearances.
Season 1 PvP is almost over, so if there is some specific PvP version, you won’t have time to collect the whole set now.
But after a season is over, Blizzard usually make the appearance available from a vendor, and in Legion, appearances were bought for Marks of Honor
The top comment on that page gives a good sense of how the vendors work. For the basic sets, just show up with your Marks. Elite sets can have restrictions like titles and ratings when bought with Marks, but Wowhead isn’t showing anything about an Elite set, so if there is one, and if it has restrictions when bought with Marks, we’ll have to wait until it’s in game to see what those restrictions are.
If you’re talking about the elite gladiator set, then you need to reach 1.8k in any rated bracket to get the armor. There are other sets that you can get from non-rated activities, but they’re basically dumbed down versions of the elite sets and look less epic and cool.
Thank you for both of your answers, they are greatly appreciated.
In light of
and
I would guess that I will need to buy the elite set with marks, however I do wonder about the non-elite ‘gladiator’ set. It’s true that the collection menu says that it can be gotten from warfronts, but I’ve never actually received a piece from that set on the many warfronts I have played through on my main or other alts, instead they’ve all been from the ‘warfront’ set. It certaintly isn’t due to the distinction between 340 and 370 pieces, because I’ve gotten plenty of 370 faction pieces but still but none of them had the ‘gladiator’ appearance, just the ‘warfront’ one. are they just a rare drop from warfronts? Again, I can’t find this kind of information on Wowhead, so I was hoping someone on the forums might know.
OK, so I went in-game and looked up the Appearances / Sets.
There are 4 appearances: Aspirant, Warfront, Gladiator, Elite.
Which one do you mean?
The Warfront and Gladiator are just recolours. The Gladiator looks like a faded version of the Warfront set. You are right, though, that the Gladiator set cannot be awarded in Warfronts. They look very similar, but the colouring is different.
The Aspirant set looks a bit scrawny compared to them.
The Elite set looks bulky in comparison.
I don’t think you will be able to buy the Elite set after Season 1 ends, unless you achieved the necessary rating in Season 1:
the Dread Gladiator Elite armor sets are rewarded in stages at (rating) 1400, 1600 and 1800. You will need to be 2100 to have the set marked as completed in your appearance tab (it includes the cloak).
Sorry that I haven’t been communicating very clearly so far.
To put it as clearly as possible, I was originally looking to get the ‘Elite’ set (the 4th set, the most bulky set that has all the extras like the lion iconography on the shoulders). Now that it looks like I won’t be getting the Elite set, I started wondering about the ‘Gladiator’ set (the 3rd set, the one that is the faded version of the 2nd set) because I like that one too.
So I now understand how to get the Elite set, so many thanks for the help in explaining that to me, but if anyone knows how to get the Gladiator set I would greatly appreciate knowing that, too.
OK. PvP systems are confusing. I’ve never got my head around them myself.
I expect that the Gladiator set will be purchaseable for Marks of Honor without any restrictions once the season ends. My DK was missing some of the pieces of the Legion set, so I bought
for him after Legion was over.
The equivalent Legion Elite set, though, is available for Marks, but requires rating.
So unless you are amazingly good enough to achieve that rating yourself, or buy a rating boost before the season ends (which is within Terms so long as you buy it with gold, but it will be expensive and it’s a potentially dodgy market) it will not be possible to get the BfA Season 1 Elite set.
What I am not fully clear on is whether the rating must have been achieved in BfA Season 1 for you to buy the set. I thought the rating had to be achieved in the season the set belongs to, but I am not absolutely certain about that, and Wowhead isn’t helping. If you go in-game and check it out at Captain Roberts
the tooltip there might tell you. Now, having said all that, Blizzard could impose different rules this time, but most likely they will stick to the same formula.
