In Response to the DDoS Attacks

Blizzard: We won’t res any char ever, no exception
Onlyfangs/streamer princesses die
Blizzard: We will res your char, it makes sense

I think this was the right decision to make.

However, going forward, i think it would also be a good idea to have a way to detect when the server is getting DDos attacked or some issues is happening with the server.

If the server sudden increase in latency or lots of connection out of nowhere, then make people teleport to their Hearthstone location, cleanse debuffs(except coward) and lock dungeons/raids until things settle down. However, if its the client that has the issue, tough luck.

Come up with a more permanent Solution.

And they revived them. Ofc mine 60 didnt get revived which died yesterday to first servers down, i guess it was not DDOS? :joy:

I have lost my character yesterday during one of those server crashes. For now i have cancelled my subscriptions, as you either rollback all character deaths related to server crashes caused by 3rd party actors or none, it’s called integrity and those people streaming the game accepted the very same terms of service, after all.

At the start of hardcore many people lost their characters when a whole server crashed and none of them got their character back. But when it happens to attentionfarmers and theres money involved Blizzard springs into action…

Which means if dramafangs was not involved, they wouldnt be doing this and thats a huge middlefinger to the entire playerbase.

Rare Blizzard W. Letting the DDOSers have their intended effect would have been the absolute wrong result. Everything else is a secondary concern.

But you do it already in past

when i ask you to do this u delete my post and ban me from forum.

to ppl dont like strearmers: dont watch em
to ppl die in hc while NOT ddos: ok, skill issues
to ppl say ONLY BCUZ STREAMERS: no even if no streamers did this and as many ppl put the same light on this - same result would happen:
to ppl who cry abt content craters: we live in a world where they exist, i dont look at them, why would my buddy Balrok who is dad of 8 kids die UNFAIRLY becuze some1 targets goonatics dont get replied from 100 gifted subs and commit a irl crime???

content craters are a things, dont look if u dont like, dont hate on ppl that dont know/care of them, if they let ppl ddos no1 can or would play ever. eat up my porridge of truth

Fine restore the streamers characters on a ddos attack but so help me god you better put in the same effort to restore regular peoples characters that died to it aswell

Tough spot for Blizzard. Do the character restorations and get accused of favouritism. Do nothing and hand power to DDoSers to kill thousands of characters whenever they want.

Blizzard’s mistake is not restoring characters during previous server crashes and DDoS attacks, because if they do it now people will ask why not previously.

That’s it. Berny quits horrible hardcore and will return to glorious SoD.

" at our sole discretion "

This means that us, the “normal” people - will not be getting any form of revive.
Its just a clever way of wording it

Some hundreds died on Stitches half an year ago, when the servers were unstable for like a straight week, with random disconnects every 30 minutes. SoD updates bleeding into Hardcore also caused a ton of deaths. Look it up if you want - tons of reddit threads about it. Blizzard had a completely different statement back then.

However, obviously having the ‘right’ 20 people dying due to a DDoS makes them rethink their strategy all of a sudden. Canceling my subscription over this decision.

They are resurrected people that die on Stitches back than, acutally

Its getting very worse now. I am keep dced every 20-25mins.

Hi, as a retail player and Wrath-classic enjoyer when it was around, here my 3 cents.

Huge W for blizzard for attempting a res of fallen characters due to a some losers attention seeking group (it was not 1 person behind). Trying to be unbiased here, (who I watch, what I think of streamers, doesn’t matter) Integrity of the game should be FIRST priority for Game Devs, in this case they could have do 2 things:
a) Radio silence - absolutely okay move, but it would be disastrous for the hardcore community in the future. Who would want to stick around playing on those servers? You are not only playing high risk game, due to potential disconnections (that are on you) but also against all odds playing vs people who want to ruin your fun/progress?
b) Acting against it - which they did. Huge win in my eyes for not letting this one slip away from their attention, I am sure that ppl who play in this guild are sincerely thankful. Blizzard has this tendency of not really caring much, so they must be glad it wasn’t the case.

This is the correct way to handle it.

And there is some ridiculous raging neckbeards in here ^^

they’re clearly having targetted attacks happen by some basement dwelling mouth breather who’s opt’d for this approach vs say shooting up a school…

spiting their attacks by making the deaths not permanent is the ideal play

How to prevent it in future? I have a feeling there are DDoS attacks at smaller scale all the time. Or servers are so poor? Some may die and not streaming.

Shame.
Preferential treatment.
We all pay the same per month. Sometimes my provider suffers from ddos… Blizzard “cant do nothing about it”
Sundenly a bunch of streamers (giving revenue to Blizzard) have special treatment.

Keep em’ dead like other millions of chars.

Blizzard was directly affected. Individual ISP´s dont matter.
