Started playing my hunter who is on a different realm from my main (which had a pretty rubbish population tbh) and the server is DEAD. Like, /who 70 had 15ish people, and my faction is the one that is actually MORE populated. Trade is non existent, even the boost spammers don’t bother posting there. Took me hours to find a guild and it had 3 people on.
What do you guys think is the best way for them to solve this? Forced transfers and close dead realms? Another merge?
Thought out mergers (as in at the minimum: check what language is the majority on a server before connecting them.). As I and many people don’t want to lose their name.
Or if they can find another way of keeping our names but transfer that be fine as well.
Funnily enough, I’m making this topic because I’m now going to need to transfer my hunter. And the realm is bad enough I don’t consider it a want, it’s basically a need. I’m unemployed atm, running this off a really poor PC and WoW is one of the few points of happiness I have in my life at the moment. So the £19 to transfer is killing me right now. I’m also wanting to move to alliance at some point, and that would be another £19 (and I have two). The reason I haven’t is 'cause I know I can’t afford it.
It’s sad, I don’t blame Blizz at all for changing for the faction changing cos that’s obviously a choice that you don’t need. But, trying to play on a server like that isn’t really doable, it’s supposed to be an MMORPG, it should be free.8
If you have no massive attachment to the character, I’d reroll on a different realm. It’s not right that that is pretty much all I can advise, they should really fix it somehow, but people have been asking for years now.
I mean they enabled cross server trading at least, so you don’t start with nothing, if you level a new char. You can also ask your guild mates (Better ask them)
The obvious solution is to merge servers. But it’s not going to happen as long as people keep buying realm transfers.
Typical case of creating a problem to sell the solution.
why not give ppl a notification when a sever is to low on ppl to transfer to a more populated server for 24 hour on a voluntary base like in ESO common practice in that game and its working perfect there.
I think that would be the right course yeah. But it’d make them no money. I’m not sure if that is the decisive factor why they won’t do it, or if they think it might create backlash with people losing their names or something. I think adding surnames (even tho I’m not particularly fond of it) might help there.
