Inactive Character Names

Hello,

I know it is a topic that has been discussed a lot and now we know if an account is inactive for 2 exp the names become available but…

My objection is that there should be a system where you can identify if a character hasn’t been used in X amount of time.
If said character hasn’t logged in Blizard could send a warning that the name can be lost so at least you force people to log or even remember if they have a chara in a different server they are not using anymore and they care or not to basically get a name change if and when they want to play with that said chara again.

Ideas?
Do you have a name that you wish it was released from holding?
Have you put them on your friend list and they never log in?
Or have you looked them up and its a stale 20 lvl character for years?

If yes you understand me.

What I think is annoying is that some players use level 1 characters to reserve names, without any intention of playing that character.

Should be a much shorter period to free up such characters’ names, not 2 expansions and regardless if the account is active or not.

Be more original. Seriously, I bet the name you’re looking for is some pop culture reference or some name you though was smart.

Why do you care if a character you haven’t played for over 4 years keeps it’s name? You clearly don’t seem to care enough to even log in once per 4 years.

If you realy want those names then just mark one day in a calendar each year as “log in to every single character day”.

I understand but at the same time its just a name, yes its nice to have. No its not always going to be the case, eventually if they are that inactive with new expans i believe blizzard open up names sometimes.

It’s the account not the character that needs to be played, even logging in as a veteran account resets the clock. I don’t think it should, only active accounts should get to keep the name and inactive accounts should lose them after 2 years not 2 expansions.

It’s two expansions of inactive account. So that is a lot longer than two years :wink:

Another though just struck me.

If they did reset them regularly there’s a good chance you name would still be taken. As I said previously it’s unlikely to be that original so more people would want it.

I’ve sent several tickets the past 3 years about names .

Its a bit weird tho since i’ve been playin Horde @ Ragnaros est WotLK and i had names reserved for Alliance @ Sylvanas since i knew one day i might reroll.
That day came and so i even transfered my guild as well every single alt.

The previous system was nice , if you could find a nice GM he/she could have given you a hand and free a name once a while if you had a good reason.

They need to bring the old system back imo , this ‘‘2 expansions’’ period is totaly garbage anyway

I also preferred the old system and had several names released that way for me to use. I do understand it meant using up manpower on something they’ve now automated.
