Blizzard please, these changes are terrible, I get it that Affliction in some cases would overflow with buttons, but THATS what talent trees are, YOU DECIDE which abilities you should pick in certain fights, If having all of these active would be to much, It ofc would be simply better to pick some passives over it and keep death bolt ( for example) situations where you have more ST etc
Also If you decided affli has too much buttons, why did u cut active abilities from general warlock talent tree? decimating bolt, and dimensional rifts were SUCH a cool ability and didn’t deserve to be cut FOR ALL 3 SPECS You not only nerfed gameplay of affliction to worse, but again destro and demo are going back to be too easy
After all thought this is what talent trees are about → TO COSTUMISE YOUR CLASS MORE AS YOU WANT IT, now because some people cried about BUILDS THEY WOULD NEVER TAKE ANYWAY ( BUT EXISTED AND SOME PEOPLE WOULD REALLY LIKE THEM) you decided to cut many of it so now these people who previously enjoyed it are forced to play something that another half of playerbase wanted. So basically now Half of playerbase cant get what they previously had and liked, and another half of playerbase not only have what they wanted anyway, but fought for that so another half playerbase wont be able to have what they want.
It’s talent trees, and if someone isn’t good enough in game to pick all of active ( which would increase dps by maybe like 20% ) They have their passives, til they learn how to play better ( which is always an option ) and If they care enough about their dps, THEY will learn, If not they will stick to easier gameplay for them.
SO WHY blizzard, SO WHY are you basing your changes all around of THESE people, and do something that disables possibility for ANOTHER half of playerbase to enjoy their talent tress?
People who cant play eventually can learn a bit, and decide to add some actives more and more, People who wanted their rotation finally complex, Wont have option to do so anymore.
Or at least please exchange boring passives ( increase 5/10% dmg) to more interesting passive talents like explosive potential https://www.wowhead.com/spell=275395/explosive-potential for demo locks, It made gameplay more fun, and this is what we are looking forward to ALL YOU DID IN THIS BUILD IS REMOVAL OF OPTIONS
I disagree with your take on Affliction button bloat being good. I am assuming you haven’t watched any proper gameplay. Aff feels awful to play at the moment. The spec is all over the place. The flow often feels chaotic.
These changes will tunnel theae down a little bit and make the flow better.
Don’t get me wrong; i still think they are making a major mistake with ID and MR still being there and a bigger mistake by putting a CDR for Soul Rot, in fact i probably will not play Aff at all if the spec stays the way it is in DF atm. But the build prior to the mentioned changes were definitely worse.
Button bloat = Bad. i understand Decision is good. but bloat is bad. if you want it its fine. but most people don’t. the lining up of abilities becomes a mess. the gameplay style becomes tedious and unfun for the vast majority of people.
When Nether Portal summons a demon, it has a 2/4% chance per Soul Shard spent to summon an additional demon.
What a joke is this? 2/4% per soul shard?
Soul shard is gained via shadow bolt - a 2 second cast spell, and for a 12% chance to gain a second demon we have to spend 6 seconds on casting a shadowbolt?
With this rework Nether Portal would have only 15 seconds up time, with its current mechanic that you summon - 1 demon despite the amount of soul shards consumed . So this change will only give the full Hand of Gul’dan (1.5 sec cast time) 12% chance to summon an additional demon. What the fel is this?
This is just useless for demonology, instead of 2/4% to summon an additional demon, this talent should have increased the duration of summoned demons to 3/6 seconds.
People like to say about removing options and theres easier paths. However i will say, this is very relevant to how much dps your losing with either build to begin with.
To stack if u have too many abilities for the GCDs you physically cant use the abilities in the rotation, im afraid thats just the truth of the matter.
Given the 6 year war v pruning i doubt anyones fighting for it to be re-estsblished withojt very good reason, alot of people inside the beta says it felt horrific and unmanagable realistically. Its easy outside wise to be ooo look complexity, but button count doesnt equate the complexity.
My only doubt for this is realistically, the fact out of every ability removed, malefic rapture isnt one of them…
I would have to agree here. The just basic rotation + NP + Tyrant with consumption just creates a big pile of you know what substance but not a cohesive gameplay.
If we are to be realistic, we here are looking at 15 sec preparation window, where you must consume the most amount of soul shards to summon Pitlord from the end talent, or consume 1 soulshard most of the times to summon the most amount of demons you physically can and on top of that summon a Tyrant to extend the duration of this demonic gang.
We are here looking at two rotations that are both frustrating for a different reason.
Most amount of demons from NP - Shadow bold → Hand of Gul’dan rotation:
2sec SB → 1.5sec HoG = 3.5 seconds to summon one demon in the 15 seconds window and 15 seconds duration of the demon itself where in the end we will summon only 4 demons. This whole rotation is not fun to perform, especially during high pressure encounters or movement.
Consume the most amount of Soul Shards to summon a most powerful Pitlord. You can perform this rotation in several ways.
2 demonic cores (two dreadstalkers) - We use Nether portal → Shadow bolt (5 soul shards remaining - 1 Shard was consumed) HoG → DB ->(4 shards remaining - 4 shards was consumed) HoG - > DB ->(3 Shards remaining - 7 soul shards was consumed ) → HoG (0 soul shards remaining - 10 shards consumed).
10 soul shards consumed and 4 demons have been summoned - 1(NP)+3(HoG).
At this moment you will secure the most powerful Pitlord possible, yet you will be out of juice and will be forced to perform a basic NP rotation - SB->HoG(3.5 sec per wave), but you will be able to summon only one additional demon because NP would end in 2 seconds. Alternatively, you could try to get 4 Demonic cores before NP, but it would highly depend on your luck or usage of the Power Siphon Talent.
This is true if according to Blizz reimagining of Ner’zhul’s Volition has been changed from additional 5/10 seconds of duration of Nether portal to 2/4% chance per Soul Shard spent to summon an additional demon.
If Ner’zhul’s Volition would still add an additional 5/10 seconds we would still be in the frustrating position because at the end of the NP, when Pitlord would be summoned our first demons would already be gone because their duration is only 15 seconds. This is a very crude design that forces Demo-warlock to waste 10 seconds of initial NP and demons that have been summoned during that time, in order to get something at the end.
This is design that brings a negative aspect to the already clucky rotation.
And all of this is on 3 min CD with demons doing just abysmally small amount of damage!
Yeah i am kinda dissapointed with the lack of evolving warlocks pets.
As much as i can appreciate the concept of a grand summoner, although its rework is contraversal, i feel the pets just need more.
Id love to see Pets provide unique effects and reasoning beyond just damage to exist, as it just currently feels like applying lots of little DoTs with more animation.
I like stacking imps into making them go boom, i feel thats quite a cool interaction between the caster and pets, but it needs more like that.
More abilities which consume pets for different reasons and can manipulate them for other things.
When will wowhead update the talent tree? Can’t wait any longer
They messed up the warlock class tree, what? They had one job, why blizzard why?
What is wrong in your head? How we have to pic Wrathful Minion to get Gateway? As an Affliction i don’t want that Talent. But i want the gateway.
Change at least the position of gateway to the position of Gorediends resolve… oh wait this isn’t better. Change the positionof demonic Embrace with Demonic inspiration and change the position of Wrathful Minion with demonic fortitude. Why are those even in the class tree? They should move to demo tree.
The old class tree was better… i how you didn’t mess up the Affliction tree…or i switch to demo so the one Talent in the class tree for Wrathful Minion is not wasted.
Wow even the Affliction tree is messed up… why didn’t you remove Pandemic Invocation? Deathbolt is thousands times better than that Talent and now I’m forced to pic that or Tab Soul to get to Malefic Affliction…
The tree was good before you messed it up, you had one job. Keep the tree and change position of some talents, not destroy the warlock class…
So if i understand this right Malefic Affliction isn’t turning MR into a dot, it adds to the dmg effect a buff to UA. That’s really sad blizzard, why didn’t you make MA to turn MR into a dot with the same dmg? So it works like a little Deathbolt.
Was just going to say that this looks like something you only put 2 points into to get the pit lord…and depending on how the pit lord is tuned you might just skip it and put 3 points somewhere else. Really underwhelmed by that node.
I’m not entirely happy with the new base tree. We really need more punchy capstone talents, one of which should be Dark Soul with multi choice for stat.
Some tough choices in the Aff tree as of the most recent update but it’s looking great for M+, on paper at least.
Chaotic Embrace - for 10 seconds all dmg dealt by you and your primary pet is chaos dmg. 2 min cd.
And
Impending Shadows - Instant, 1 min cd, deals x amount of shadow dmg to the target. For 8 seconds all dmg dealt to the target also inflicts 75% of their dmg to the target.
