Increased drop chances for WB mounts, and proposal going forward

Yes, Pandaria world boss mounts got their drop chance greatly increased. A literal quote from the article. Obviously I jumped out of my bed, went to try, and lord behold, I and atleast 3 other players, got the Heavenly Onyx cloud serpent on the 1st try after the hotfix. I’m obviously not judging the chances due to me getting it on the 1st kill, but it’s not a coincidence 4 of us got it, so I would assume it’s actually a nice drop chance.

So, while this decision is very controversial, as people spent thousands and thousands of attempts, it’s actually the correct decision. Even I think so, despite being abit mad about when they announced that the Big Love Rocket drop chance being increased with the upcoming Love is in the air event.

Let me tell you people something, anything lower than 1 in 100 drop chance, is just degenerate, and it supports degenerate gameplay. These bosses are trivial to kill, meaning the only factor between you and the mount, is pulling the right combination on the slot machine. 1 in 2000? Are you serious?

Huge props for Blizz to increasing this, and in the upcomig future, I hope they will put all mounts to 1 in 100, and to greatly increase Big Love Rocket and HH’s reins in the next events, so people will get them.

This is only a game, and these are only pixels. Stop treating it as anything more.

Peace

Oh and just FYI, I have the big love rocket, HH reins and Cobalt direhorn from Oondasta, all pre-nerf. And yes, I still love the fact they increased the drop

Hmm, so something like a two digit number? Because if so, that’s neat enough to merit a mass try for them when I’m done with the limited time thingies.

Guessing from 4 players getting the mount I’d guess say, 20%. That’s actually very neat!

I hope that Invi, Alar et alii will follow soon…

Good decision by Blizzard. Instead of ruining a good gaming moment by taking away the mount from people who got it without knowing about the exploit, they increase the drop chance for everyone! Win-win.

Hi,

no no, it’s not that high. And sample size wasn’t 10, but it was around 100 or even more, and keep in mind that mounts are bonus rollable.

I would say 1-3 %, around here. And you can double the chances since you can bonus roll.

Fully agree.

Those sort of clash. 1% is Invi’s drop rate (namely).

So I guess you were either insanely lucky to see this (basically, even in an optimistic case with those numbers (will count with 3% here), it’s 0.03⁴=0.00000081% chance if my math is right.

Needless to say, that’s insanely low. I’d see multiple Love Rocket drops before 4 world boss mounts at once.

So trust me, it’s likely some 15-20%-ish chance. With those odds I would imagine multiples in one kill.

blliz should just add limit for how many time needed to mount drop.like after 100 time killing the mob mount drop or 200 for raid mounts

Your math would be correct, if the sample size would be as low as you’re making it out to be. Your calculation is only valid, if only us 4 that got the mount would kill the boss.

In reality, around 100-120 people killed the boss. You have to put these into your equation, else it doesn’t work properly.

I also killed Galleon 3 times now, with bonus loot. Considerably less people (around 30, max 40) killed it each time, and usually only 1 got the mount. By rough estimations, that’s 1 mount per 40, and 2 chances per getting it due to bonus rolls, which still puts you at 1-2 % drop chance, like I’ve said.

World boss mounts were the only mounts left in the game where I was actually jealous of the person that had them. Rip.

I don’t know what the current chances are, but I got the Sha and Galleon mount back-to-back on the same character after this hotfix went live.

As someone who had well over 9k attempts on Sha, this change is bittersweet, but ultimately I do think it’s for the better for the game. 1/2000 drop mounts is just ridiculous and pointless.

I do wonder why they didn’t also adjust the abysmal drop rates of the Love Rocket and the Mechagon 1/2000 drop rate mount in this hotfix. Missed opportunity.

This was only implemented because of the Evoker bug from yesterday where people had a 100% drop rate. And rather than to sort through that mess went with an overall increased drop rate.

Gz to those who wasted their times to get them .
Will go get my easy loot now :d

Finally! Rustfeather next! I’ve been farming that damn bird for 2 expansions now on a daily basis.

Agree, Soundless, Rustfeather, Arachnoid Harvester and Famu should be increased aswell. No doubt.

I like the direction this is heading.

My bf did 20 ppl raid and they got 2 mounts, then on alt he did 10 ppl raid and one person got the serpent
Seems like 1 mount per 10 players

They announced earlier this year that it will be increased next year

They’re 1 in 200 drops the first 3, along with the headless horseman and the riding turtle, in the sense each minnow is 1 in 200 on mount, is that too low? For me it’s ok, and they’re exceptional mounts, in the sense majority is 1 in 100. 1 in 1000-2000 like the world bosses were so low that some of us purposefully decided to not farm and buy them in BMAH instead, basically the point where you can make more gold by buying them for 953k (the wod BMAH cap) and using the rest of the time to farm gold rather than spending the required time to do 1k, 2k, 5k or even 10k attempts to make them drop.

Hopefully this at least means (since I don’t appreciate moving the goalposts after 10 years in the case of some of these mounts) that they’re actually moving away from the super low drops, after all I haven’t seen a super low drop since nighthold in 2017: the felblaze infernal, which was nerfed in 2020 already and the most recent world boss mount, the alpaca in vol’dun, was 1 in 50 since the start.

Ofcourse its a good idea! And the same should be true for Raid drops and other rare mounts as well.

If a player wants to get an obtainable mount in the game, then it should feel some what obtainable within a set period of time.

Mekkatorque used to be one of my favourite fights in BFA… I sick to death of that fight now. Running it 10-30 times per week for the last 2 years has killed what was an enjoyable memory for me.

After all the current content of the game should be fulfilling enough to be keeping us occupied with the game. Not running between old raids and dungeons or sitting around AFK whilst waiting for a rare spawn to come up.

If Blizzard wants to make a Mount rare, then they should remove it when the current content patch/expansion ends, and not hide it behind a 1/3000 drop rate.

I think they upped it to 1% which compared to 1/2000 is like comparing a drop to the ocean. This should’ve been changed in MoP imo. Something having an absurd drop chance on top of being limited each week promotes some insane habits.

Assuming it’s a permanant change. I hope it is.
I might actually have a go at the Sha etc. with a 20% chance. I’m not bothering with the old 0.01% chance, that could take ten years of farming.
