Incursions

Hey Blizz,

I can understand what you were aiming for here, but I don’t understand why you think the finished product was right for Classic.

  • Bot playstyle
  • Easy money making
  • Easy Exp for levelling
  • Brain dead

Bot playstyle:
All you are doing is running back and forth, no excitement, no real effort, everyone shares quests and it is incredibly boring. Not to mention getting dismounted to run up a ramp…
I am only doing this to get a Rune not for enjoyment. Crazy.

Easy money making:
Not to mentioned the gold joke at launch where people made thousands of gold. But even the gold rewards now are better than the open world quests. This event has single handily wiped out and reason to explore the world.

Easy Exp for levelling:
This speaks for itself, you can level faster in this event than anywhere in the game right now. No reason to do anything else until 50.

Brain dead:
To reinforce a point earlíer, its dead boring. Classic was about running and exploring, but making us run to and from a portal and dismounting us for part of that run, then unable to remount because of the thousands of mobs that spawn almost instantly.

The event is a cool idea, but fix it so you are only there for REP, no need to be there for making money or levelling.!

Since you only need friendly to get the rune, I have a nice tip for you:
The Hinterlands and Feralas incursions, available at level 47, have a daily quest that awards 1k rep (+10% if you’re human). All you need to do to complete it is 1 (one) mission inside the portal.
So you can get that rune by doing exactly 3 missions across 3 days.

Great thank you Jungle.
So not to “miss” out of anything, I will be forced to do incursions until 47, then I can do what you suggested.

They put all their eggs in one basket for this event and like any addicted wow player I will have to do it so I don’t miss anything.

However, my original comment was for blizz and not for you, but thank you for the tip.

What is it that you’ll be missing out on?
If it’s ST, you have until tuesday night to get to max level and do the raid, so plenty of time.
STV event is not going anywhere.

What exactly will you be missing out on?

The event part.

The changes, the bug fixes, the updates. I like the game and if they improved things, I want to be there to see it for myself.

This event is an experiment, but I am not stupid either and I can’t afford to be left behind. I too have to take advantage of the gold, exp and rep if I want to be viable for raids early.

You didn’t miss out on it, as one can tell by your (accurate, let me add) OP.

As for fixes and updates, I am not so sure it will get many more after what has already been done, and if there are, the “improvement” will come in the form of another nerf.
The fact that many people are still spamming it after Gold rewards have been drastically reduced, and even experience gained has seen a nerf, means that maybe it is still too good compared to the alternatives, so I don’t see an improvement being anything other than a nerf.

And if that is the case, then you’ll have done the exact opposite of “missing out” by now.

This I can agree with you in the sense that the gear available from the Emerald Wardens reputation is superior to the Gnomeregan gear, even if not by a lot. While Friendly unlocks 3 of the set pieces, the other 3 only become available at Honored reputation, and afaik there are one or two extra pieces of gear available at higher reputation levels as well.
However, your initial post claimed that your goal was to get the rune, and that is available at friendly, so you should not need to dedicate that much time to it, if that is your goal with the event.

Sunken Temple has not yet been fully cleared, afaik, and nerfs should soon be coming to it. When that happens, and also to attend to the (allegedly) more casual take on SoD, I would assume you will not need to be “pre-BiS” to be able to complete it, as was the case in both previous phases, so I think it’s safe to assume that even with just friendly reputation gear, or not even, you should be able to soon clear the raid without much effort.

But I do understand your take if gear is your concern, the reputation gained apart from the daily quest is small to the point where grinding actually becomes a thing.
And the quests become tedious pretty fast (as in, after two iterations, in my case).
