Not sure how much the current patch has influenced RP, but it made me realise that throughout WoW’s expansions I’ve never seen any concerted Infinite RP going on. I understand why - time RP giving rise to some awkward encounters, or maybe just lack of interest.
But given Bronze magic is introduced to RP a little more through dracthyr now, does anyone RP an Infinite or know of a guild / group doing this? Is there any interest for it?
p.s - sorry, this isn’t a post about a renewable source of RP
I think it’s just one of those niches that ends up being hard to sustain. I’ve seen a few individuals over the years roleplaying members of the Infinite flight, but they are few and far between. Especially with RP being a little more on the scattered side these days I think it would be hard to keep a group like that going for any extended period of time, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.
The Infinite Dragonflight really only appears in pockets of alternate realities trying to alter the course of things going on there. If there has ever been any interest in portraying them as anything else than a one-time villain is because you need to do time travelling to get to them, and it’s kind of hard to portray anything like that on ‘modern day’ zones, no less find people who are interested in writing their characters go back in time or involve themselves in such storylines on the long run.
It’s just a logistical nightmare just to play a villain faction that nearly nobody would like to roleplay with, so, there’s never really been a guild or organised group of roleplayers involving them as playable characters.
As for non-playable characters in storylines? There’s been instances where I’ve seen them being written as villains. From the looks of things, there’s currently a guild in Argent Dawn about to do a storyline related to timeline traveling and such, but, I don’t really know much other than having seen their post which I’ll link right here.
The Infinite flight is definitely interesting and fun to think about. Sadly nobody… really makes a deal of it IC wise in RP via characters or mentioning it. I’ve personally never seen anybody involved with such a thing.
What I’ve personally done is have one of my chars team up with the Infinites to try and avoid his future death that he knows will happen. So I’m just playing it out all alone.
Think there’s been some cross-over now though, rather than isolated to pocket realities - now that they have an interest in thwarting the ‘true timeline’ i.e Chrono-Lord Deios
It’s definitely a challenge, but I think the time stuff can be cool and have a lot of possibilities. Alternate versions of their character like Chromie, the chance of play out alternate history - seems like a lot of effort required, though.
