Infinite timereaver 2 drops question

Hi, I know about plenty of people who got timereaver early on (like 300 kills or less, in some cases much less), but I find it very weird that between these very lucky people, not a single one got a 2nd timereaver drop after already having learned the 1st!

Anyone got a different experience and managed to get a 2nd timereaver?

It mustn’t necessarily be someone who got lucky, someone could’ve got it after 8000 kills example, then did a few kills for gear and badges and got another at 8500 kills, it’s technically possible given how luck works.

What I’m wondering is: I so far didn’t find anyone who got a 2nd, the mount has been out for almost 4 years, couldn’t it be that perhaps it can no longer drop once you learnt it?

“Blizzard I didn’t get that mount the second time, you suck.”

Different. Weekend material though.

Once it’s dropped it’s dropped, it won’t ever drop for you again.

It could be one of those that if you have it but someone in your group doesn’t then you can’t get it again, but if everyone in your group has it then you can.

I think Dahlia is correct here and the others have smoked/drunk something a bit on the strong side.

My best guess is that it’s much like the loot within the dungeons - each person gets an individual roll on the loot so in theory if 5 players don’t have the mount they could all get it from the same kill, very unlikely but possible.

i have several mounts on my alts that are dupes. is anyone 100% certain that any mount wont drop if you already have it? if so, why was i able to collect all these?

black primal raptor (2)
green primal raptor
broken highland mustang
bloodhoof bull
undercity plaguebat (i have 10 of these!!)
twilight drake (2)
drake of the south wind
flametalon of alysrazor
creeping carpet. (bop, but made it 2nd time by mistake)
black drake (2)
biletooth gnasher
bronze drake

Interesing answer: as a collector I know that several mounts can still drop after you got them, in my case of yours I got several black, green, red raptors because of my long oondasta farming (you can get eggs from oonda), VERY interesting that you got one of the arathi mounts twice, I had never got a 2nd even if I have all once, and I thought it was impossible, seems I was wrong, bloodhoof bull along with its colleagues can ofc drop as much as you like, it’s 100% drop, same goes for OS mounts, south wind indeed, I got a duplicate on my mage who seems very lucky on those, alysrazor as a gold farmer from old raids I got 20 of them, 600 runs or so, same goes for its colleague ragnaros, argus ones ofc can drop many times with the exception of the paragon ones and the ones from eggs, where once you learnt one you won’t be able to get THAT ONE again.

Then ofc as a collector I also got some you didn’t mention multiple times, like horridon, ji-kun, elegon, onyxia (and it even took ages to get the 1st), lifebinder, blazing, ultraxion (super gold farming, 1200 kills), rivendare, kael’thas magister, and perhaps some more I’m not thinking about now, I just know a lot of mounts can drop duplicates.

@Someoneelse: not sure what you’re saying but I didn’t get any single timereaver, I was just asking to know if lucky friends can help unlucky collectors or not cause the mount will no longer drop for them.

@Doktar, I think that could be right about the way it works, and the warlock could be correct that it can’t drop again, because I’m trying to look everywhere, I know it’s an insane amount of luck to get twice a 1 in 4000 drop mount, but remember that 14% of players already have timereaver, I THINK at least a handful of them would’ve got a 2nd drop by now if it were possible, and like I said I looked everywhere and I haven’t found anyone who managed to get a 2nd.

However, also keep this in mind: in timewalking, you can drop kael’thas mount from magister’s terrace after already having it in collection (happened to me) and at the very least the vortex pinnacle mount after already having it (happened to a group member, and he traded it to highest roller), so you think timereaver works differently from mounts that drop in the same dungeons?

as a lot of people stop killing npcs that drop mounts after they get the mount, it may be hard to know which mounts drop more than once. with the arathi ones, i found in 7.0/7.1 that gearing alts by killing all the rares in arathi was very nice, so i had a duplicate drop where most people may stop killing after 1 go.

even though some mounts might be 100% like the bloodhoof and others you mention, why cant they work either:

  1. like quest items or other items as in even though its 100% drop while you’re on the quest (while you dont know the mount) once you complete the quest (learn the mount) it will no longer drop for you, even though it is still 100% drop rate.
  2. let us do something with mounts that drop after we already have them. i wouldn’t mind giving mounts to friends who dont have them, or selling/swaping them with other players via AH or /2. or maybe even a vendor buying them for large amounts of gold, depending on their drop rate.

it can be a bit demoralizing if a hard mount, like lets say ultraxion mount drops twice when it took so long to learn the first time, but you are still farming handmaiden.

Being able to cage a mount drop, if you already have it, might be the answer?

I also have duplicate mounts (older mounts) but the process in which the loot had dropped was different as you would have to directly loot and claim the mount.

The fact that you have received Kael’thas’s drop twice leads me to believe there is a few possible routes and actually changes my opinion as it’s new data I have yet to personally experience.

#1 Older content (mount drops) has not changed, you can still get duplicates even with the new TW personal loot system.

#2 You can have duplicate drops, if you had received or witnessed a player getting the same mount multiple times via TW then it’s probably a sensible assumption that it translates to every other mount obtained via the personal loot roll in and outside TW.

#3 This mount has unique drop properties and will only be dropped once per player.

#4 All drop related content created after this point works in a similar fashion to #3.

Hopefully somebody with better luck or insight can shed some light on it, the odds are insane but chances are likely somebody or a group of people have enough data to provide a fairly accurate report on the chance of a duplicate. I have never actually seen more than one drop of a mount on this loot system dating as far back as Pandaria, it’s all guess work and the information you provided in your latest post leads me to think differently.

If anybody has any more information on this it would help - Did you ever see more than one mount drop from world bosses/dungeon drops at a single time? This would tell a lot more, I only assume it’s possible to see multiples in my first post because we see duplicate drops of the same items.

P.s im several hours past my bedtime and I’m feeling like I have contradicting myself at every corner, I’ll come back and check after a full nights sleep and see if I can do better :stuck_out_tongue:

I got the dragon couple of months ago during Cata event took me around 150 runs. Never seen it drop 2nd time!

Yes, I think your answer is as complete as it gets, doubt anyone actually got more info.

What I have is I did like 4,3k kills, which again are nothing to brag about compared to the most hardcore farmers who didn’t get lucky, and across them I saw 8 timereaver drops, if you combine the stonecore, vortex, magister drops I saw in tw it’s likely higher than 8 but individually each has dropped less times.

All of the drops I’ve seen have been in tbc, wotlk and mop events, never seen them in cata and wod yet, though I know they can, normally I do like 300 kills per event and a timereaver drops for someone every event or once every 2 events, exception this week where I’ve gone 2 weeks without seeing a timereaver drop.

@Lynlarae: yes, I remember seeing your post in january, you got very lucky!

@Cathbadh: yes, caging mount drops would be a solution for the timereaver problem, ironically one might think people overprice stuff, but for someone who didn’t get lucky and wants it, obviously gold is the most realistic option, see world bosses mounts in bmah, and I’m sure it’d go for affordable amounts even as a good looking mount.

@Vin: true, I didn’t really get a lot of kills on arathi after I got my mounts, only for emissaries occasionally.

I’m glad! I’m sure somebody out there has more information, perhaps in the future they will stumble this way ;] (hello future person)

I’m unsure how many kills I actually have or how I can check this directly. This event I leveled two characters from 100-120 strictly via TW, I actually really enjoy these dungeons, specifically cataclysm as I did around the release.
I’d love to see the difficulty ramped up in a heroic/mythic variant for the TW dungeons, I really enjoy the unique achievements that came on release with these dungeons but they become trivial with scaling which is a shame, the unique challenges are great!

So far only seen one mount drop and it was the Drake of the winds instead (not for me!).

I’ll be hoping to do the same next event, so hopefully it will rear its head next event!

In regards to caging (can we cage? I have missed 2 expansions for the most part) - People are already selling the rarer mounts such as Aeonaxx and others, I also gave one away to a friend when I found him again, I like the idea of being able to sell mounts even if it would bring greater competition.

True, would be useful, selling stuff like aeonaxx, long forgotten hippos etc. (I know something, as a crystal hunter) leads to mistrust, you never scammed anyone but every day you sell you face the same problems of people who wouldn’t trust with an amount that is minuscule for you etc., so anything that can be put in AH would be an improvement!

Really crazy to think that the fix for the most unlucky collectors without timereaver doesn’t need to be an increase in drop rate that would cause outrage for the lucky ones, just simply needs to be made boe, you can bet some people who got it in 10 runs would be happy to make 1 mil for it, and there’s your timereaver done.
