Insane amount of Bots farming

yeah and that’s the hypocrisy of players sorry , this game is ancient and apparently very easy to hack , if there was something like 2FA and phone verification that would decrease the amount of bots to a level that they can handle manually.

i play lots of sh*tshow asian mmos and none of them have this many bots, it’s not as easy and as profitable to make a bot in those games since they have modern structure. if we compare the other big mmos , i have never seen any botting in eso or gw2, i’ve heard that it was an issue but it gets controlled easily . no game has dk bots named ‘‘fkjsdfjs’’ flying around mining like wotlk classic has xd their bots actually try to hide and easily get banned .

you know why i hate you?
because it doesnt matter what happens in world of warcraft
good or bad or worse , even when even when everyone is pressing blizzard to stop those bots your still defending them.
i didnt see you complain about anything in this game one single time in this years
nothing is perfect but you still dont understand this
thats what i dont get it

You know why I hate silly statements like this. I’ve not said anything against Blizzard improving their ability to deal with bots and even invited knowledge from other games and their ways of dealing with it.

This just highlights how you are presuming things because I post in green and have no idea what I have posted.

Fortunately people who do read my posts have seen all the things I have criticised and complained about.

Yep FF is one I can think of. I could not create a sqex account with them until I provided authenticator information. Just would not allow me to move past that stage. So I had to go get one.

I really do not see the issue for folks to attach an authenticator to the account. Maybe blizzard should oblige and let folks have there own 3rd party one. Risk of course is on them if it fails.

I honestly don’t remember with FF, but I set that account up so many years ago.

I don’t have an authenticator set up on mine.

I do have a authenticator set up on mine. But it makes me more vulnerable to lose my account of all my blizzard games when i lose my phone. Which i see as a bigger threat than someone guessing my credentials since i used a password generator for it. It is literally a scramble of (special) chars

My preference would be without a phone authenticator.

Could be updated policy. I set my account up last year and yep just would not let me continue until I provided authenticator info. Made recommendations for which ones to use so I selected the SQENX Token.

PS: I also only played the free version and quit as I found the MSQ a little too drawn out for my liking.

You can move it to a new device with the back up codes.

One authenticator app bugged out on me and I had awful time when my phone reset. I now keep all my back up codes super safe.

I do understand the concern when it’s all tied to your mobile.

We need official statements also about Retail.

It pleases me. Even if they don’t give further details about those bans, it’s a good thing for healthy game.

TSM etc etc is allowing market manipulation. Why is market manipulation is a problem? ‘’ The most obvious consequence of market manipulation is that it can result in skewed pricing, which makes it challenging for investors to assess the true market worth of an asset. Investors who purchased or sold assets at artificially inflated or deflated prices may suffer big losses as a result. ‘’ .This is a real life article about market manipulation. It goes same for game economy. You don’t allow tools that can lead manipulation. Blizzard UI should be improved. This is a suggestion. It’s good for majority. Same goes for Blizzard API for Auction House Data. People should play and check AH, instead of API. They can consider it or not, their choice.

I’ve spoken to a couple of people on various media about why they won’t, absolutely won’t give blizzard their mobile number. Their replies are usually one of:

  1. Blizzard don’t need it, they only insist on it so they can sell it to data brokers.
  2. They just want to send me sms spam to sell more games.
  3. They only want to track me.

The only acceptable excuse I’ve heard was “I don’t actually have a mobile phone, because I’m deaf, they are pointless.”

I am more wondering why they need a mobile app. Why can’t they just use the already attached emailadress? It really feels terrible my mobile is my only way into my account. When it gets stolen or somthing happens to my mobile i lose my account. It is way more vulnerable with this authenticator than without.

‘’ Two-factor authentication

2FA defined

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an identity and access management security method that requires two forms of identification to access resources and data. 2FA gives businesses the ability to monitor and help safeguard their most vulnerable information and networks.‘’
what you said is just one factor , if your email gets hacked then you can’t save your accounts but if u add another layer of protection then you’ll be able to protect your blizz account even if your email gets hacked

A monthly tally of the number of actioned accounts would be interesting to see.

No. Now when my phone gets hacked it is the same.
And worse. when i lose my phone i do not only lose my phone but also my battlenet account. I am thinking for some time already to get a 2nd phone for blizzard so i can leave that one home. My normal phone is vulnerable.

Don’t have access to the previous device?

If you no longer have access to your old device, you will need to click “Can’t Log In” on the login screen. If you have SMS setup you can verify your identity through SMS verification to remove the old authenticator from your account allowing you to set up the authenticator in the Battle.net mobile app. If you are unable to verify your account through SMS you will need to contact customer support for assistance with removing your old authenticator.

your account won’t be lost if you lose your phone.

Right… customer support. Not great experience with them.

And obviously when i lose my phone i lose my sms too.
But the one who has stolen my phone has all the options to access my account.

it means if u have access to your SIM like if your phone breaks etc. even if you lose it you can stil lget your SIM card back ( idk if you’re in a country that still uses them but ) not sure if blizz will send the sms to new SIM with the same number tho. either way you’re good as long as you prove CS that you’re you

When i lose my phone i do not have my SIM anymore obviously.

And customer support does not really have a good track record for me. It is anecdotal evidence so i am not going to say something in general about it. But my personal faith in them is lost.

Thanks for getting this back in my attention. I am buying a cheap 2nd phone for this nonsense to stay actually safe.
