Insane damage bug or scaling?

Hello all,

Really new player here, so be gentle please. I was going through couple of zones leveling my first character, figured out the zone scaling etc. After finishing up Stranglethron area (10-30) at level 35 (i know, i know, i take it slow), i went to Swamp of Sorrows (15-30) and noticed I’m suddenly doing 10K damage to everything with simplest spells.

I basicly went from doing 380 dmg in Stranglethorn to doing 10K dmg in Swamp of Sorrows with the same spell. Only thing that changed is that I leveld up from 34 to 35.

Is this normal? Should I repot a bug? I know I am overleveled for vanila content but I wanted to explore a bit before moving on, and the sudden change in dps really weirded me out.

They are probably still tweaking here and there with the level squish just being enabled but that is no cause for concern. You naturally deal higher damage the lower the level of the npc.
Basically each level is alot more stronger then they were before.

But 10k is definitely a tad higher then it should be but nothing too irregular. No harm in sending a bug report tho

( You will notice even higher numbers when one shotting those level 1 bunnies and beetles  )

I dont even hit for 10k in 1 strike Da hell D:

yes its likely a bug xD

You just overleveled zone heavily and that’s why your damage is scaled to old content already, consider this like 11 levels difference before. For 30+ you must go expansions as godknowswhy Blizzard don’t let vanilla to scale to 50.

I did some testing and it seems it is intended. In the overworld (that I overleveled) i am one shotting everything so i foolishly went solo heroic Zul’Gurub thinking that ‘me be strong now’ and got my a** handed to me on a golden platter. Damage was normal there as well, same with BFA dungeon, so I guess it’s intended.

Thank you all for your answers, much appreciated.
