I think it would be interesting again if exploration was part of the gameplay experience.
Right now maps are simply put out there in our UI, but what if we had to “earn” them by mapping out the parts of world and instances by jotting them down on parchment or buy them from scribes who already discovered places? These maps could then mention rare monsters, treasures, mining and herbalism spots and more instead of just giving it to us outright?
It would leave a bad taste to remove something from the playerbase and require them to pay gold to acquire it back. At best I would suggest maps from scribes to reveal extra treasures on the minimap, similar to how selecting a pact with the Nerubians does.
Absolutely not. There are enough chores in the game now without having to catalogue the entire world, dungeons and everything else. Plus, you still need to uncover parts of the map, that’s sufficient.
