Insight into rogue design

oldschool design wondering if anyone read answers to why twenty two+ levels of nothing but upgrades?

almost 3 gold your stealth is a slightly better stealth than it used to be , another skill reads more effective than rank 1 (trust us ! ) another skill does the same thing i did 10 levels ago but now it deals 45 damage!

just seems odd when looking at other classes still getting new skills post 40, if you don’t count the slowfall passive rogue as a class seems finished maybe level 36 / 38.

did they run out of ideas ? time ? did the old devs ever answer this anywhere ?

Your presumptions are ridiculous.
You don’t have the slightest idea what goes into developing a game like this, let alone that you even have any idea about the classes. It will take you decades to understand balance in World of Warcraft, if at all.

Your reply is basically…learn to code?
To someone that asks questions about the design of a class and the feel of playing it? Thats your reply?
As a player he doesn’t need to know what goes into developing the game.
It was an observation ended with a question…and your reply was so rubbish it neither added to the conversation or answered anything besides are you an idiot…and i guess we got the answer.

Maybe you should learn to code instead of whining on forums about what others post?

Is it bad thing?

World of Warcraft vanilla was the world’s best mmorpg in 2005 and the world’s best hardcore mmorpg in 2023.
You definitely don’t get this through a lack of ideas.

Do you want to understand the development of World of Warcraft Vanilla?
If you become a better player, the answers will come by themselves.

@Fyer I dont need to add anymore, you nailed it, there are no stupid questions only stupid answers which is what Darkhammer did xD

No, I don’t think it is bad, I find it super interesting that over what almost more than a decade the rogues kit remained basically the same, its a testament to a great classic design while other classes/specs have been remade multiple times and in some cases don’t even resemble their originals.

if we did then we need answers as to what made developers do the things they did? hence my question!

I have watched some hours long developer interviews, I follow some of the OG wow devs on social media and have even seen them say wow was “half on accident”

now several posts in we are back at the original question,

how did rogue end up designed in a way that it got nothing but upgrades for 20+ levels ?

So many references, you can definitely apply as a developer.

nice strawman bro, that’s all you did this thread, please troll harder somewhere else, I never said I wanted to be a wow developer? I just wanted more insight into development of the game.

When did seeking knowledge become a bad thing ? edit:yes I was a little satirical with my original post but you just came here to argue.

anyway add you to the list of muted keyboard warriors!

good day
