[Interest Check] Forsaken Forum

We are very happy with the attention this got! And what a merry band of dead men coming out the woodworks. I will endeavour to elaborate on some of the points raised above.

Then we are of two minds! There is definitely a feeling of the world being too big for the Undead, so seizing the opportunity to create a format where everyone can come together to meet, debate, befriend or berate, with some cultural hooks and activities sprinkled in, seemed very appealing to us.

Concerning the possibility of a discord group, I will leave it up to the future whether the community grows enough that managing it from these very forums and through in-game doesn’t quite make the cut, I will jump on the chance to facilitate it. No guaerantees for now! We are more invested in getting this project on its feet for the time being.

I completely agree, and I’ll speak on what else we have in mind for it while speaking on your input (of which we very much appreciate):

This is a good point and something that’s not to be underestimated — we can try to reinvent the wheel or beat the dead horse called the loss of the val’kyr in the unforgiving hopes it ever stirs, but it’s much cooler to focus on current affairs.

The reason the Council and the val’kyr are mentioned in the OP are just to serve as a simple example—this thread serves purely as an interest check for the idea of a forum centered around Forsaken affairs, because Lakeworh (my dear aforementioned friend and co-organizer) and I aren’t known with the current Forsaken scene and the size of it. The topics in the OP can serve for a pilot episode of the forum as an event.

The only problem there is that the Forsaken don’t directly tread to the foreground anymore, but topics that generally should or would concern the Forsaken people - like the discovery of Khaz Algar - are still interesting topics for this forum.

Beside that, topics are supposed to be pretty open. It’s kind of the point — it allows speakers to be nuanced and encourages their own take on something so the audience can engage with it, be it by heckling, by questioning their take or by cheering — you get the gist. People are free to submit topics they’d like discussed in future topics through the forums.

brother i was the one that killed it .i burned it all to the ground from within, scattered the ashes, GONE

So, when we starting?
We could organise a first meet up maybe?
“A call to all forsaken to stitch our stories - the first Forsaken Forum.” Undercity comes first to mind, but I know many are fond of Brill, The Sepulchre and so on. Surely somewhere wide enough for everyone to gather, and maybe stable so aside bigger events smaller meet ups can take place?

While I think Undercity even Brill being nice, I would probably go for any place but tirisfal, cus the phasing and everything was pretty much so messed up there. Idk how it is now, but maybe something to keep in mind should it still be the case.

We’re still in the process of figuring out the when/where of things, but one thing we can already say is that we are looking very hard at Strahnbrad for a location, mostly because of one isssue;

Tirisfal and Silverpine are both disastrous areas for us to navigate around, when we’re talking phasing. From how we see it, Strahnbrad has a lot of original, decrepit interior that fits the sort of “mood” we are going for and housing that is “kind of” serviceable, while being problem-free when it concerns phasing… so far. We’re always open to hearing suggestions if anyone thinks there are more suitable locations!

We’re, again, very happy to see the attention this has gotten so far, so stay tuned for more updates about what could hopefully be a program!

Strahnbrad has no phasing issues, but depending on the day, it can have a lot of traffic going through it.

You’ve always got Tarren Mill, which is fairly iconic

The Sepulcher also doesn’t have phasing, as far as I remember. But either of these are solid locations. Good luck!

Right down the road from Strahnbrad as well, and safer… we’ll take a look if it suits the format. Thanks!

We will definitely have to test this! Thanks for the tip, and thanks again for the well-wishes.

We are at work setting a date and time! Very excited. Remain vigilant, brethren :skull:

We are finalizing a program for the day that we will be publishing soon, so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, we hope our damned brethren spread the word, and to remain ready; the hour could be nearer than you think…

Something to note perhaps is the Ruins of Alterac are canonically a Forsaken held stronghold now as of BFA, considering Strahnbrad has been suggested. I know there are some ogre npcs about the place but the fortress there only has a couple I believe on the lower levels from my understanding.

Inside the castle, there’s only a couple on the lower levels, and iirc none above. That said, there’s a nightmarishly large amount of them that spawn all over the grounds. To the point where you’re having to turn around, break immersion, and smack a giant ogre to death more than you will be actually RPing.

That said, there’s a lot of ruins in and around Hillsbrad to go back and forth from.

Edit: Not to mention the potential of RP-PvP or just general encounters with Alliance nerf guilds up there. Ofc a lot of them prefer to keep to themselves and their horses, but it’s at least a good opportunity for interaction with the broader community as well. ^^

I believe that a ‘Forsaken Forum’ would be more thematic in a town belonging to the Forsaken proper, such as Tarren Mill, Deathknell, Brill, or even Capital City itself.

That aside, I do not think that the only potential of a location being that one can engage with random unsuspecting guilds in RP-PVP with overwhelming numbers is something that really draws my attention when it comes to a ‘moot’ of sort - and, frankly, sort of anti-thetical to it if anything. At that point, it’d just be a RP-PVP event in a trench coat.

Other places, especially the ones in Tirisfal, would make more sense and provide more plots to the table by simply happening there, like the reconstruction effort, as compared to a meeting of Forsaken happening in Ruins of Castle Nowhere, Contestedland.

I mean RP-PvP as merely being a potential, maybe unexpected interaction. Rather than military-RP esc battles. Given Brill’s phasing, like others have said, it might not be ideal, but I can definitely put a vote towards Deathknell as a potential place. Given the fact it has a lot of space, buildings, and townsfolk that aren’t just quest-givers, unlike Brill or the Sepulcher (which still has Sylvanas sitting there).

Love this concept and I’d love to attend more Forsaken focussed RP!
