[Interest Check] Forsaken Forum

Hello, grave-kin of Argent Dawn,

The Forsaken people are in an intriguing predicament — the Desolate Council has replaced Sylvanas, including a certain member (descendant of a lineage one might view as either blessed or cursed) making drastic decisions much in contrast to what the Forsaken administration of yore have carried out. There are no means of reproduction, now that the Val’kyr are gone, and there is the ever-growing scrutiny from mortal races surrounding them, in spite of constant efforts to find “redemption”. It is abundantly clear that there are a heap of challenges burdening the individual undead in the setting of today. But how to overcome?

A friend of mine and I were contemplating hosting a public forum for Forsaken roleplayers, as well as Forsaken-adjacent races - think of blood elves, for example - on pre-selected topics concerning the Forsaken past, present and future. Characters are given the chance to voice both controversial and non-controversial opinions regarding said topics, with speakers being appointed beforehand to keep some order.

For example; some might find comfort in the new age of the Forsaken, finding hope in the newly established government under the Council, while others might be set in their ways, a nation under Sylvanas still fresh on their minds, while others still might find Calia Menethil’s nature as an undead infused with the Light reason enough to be skeptical while she has a seat on the high table.

This post serves to see whether or not there’d be interest in such a reoccurring forum. It’s an easy way to create some roleplay while also bringing people together and sharing viewpoints they’d otherwise never find themselves in touch with, while additionally bringing Forsaken characters from near and far together and perhaps find kindred spirits… or just more people to be cautious of. Can the Forsaken unite in spite of their surely differing opinions, when their own advice - “Trust no one” - lives on today? That is what we hope others want to find out.

We hope you will engage. The Forsaken of Lordaeron calls you to return…

I was just thinking about this today. Maybe even creating a community would be good. We are splintered, we aren’t represented, we are Forsaken.
Having a discord community maybe could be useful to bolster some Undercity action again? Something beyond guilds, something for all Forsaken.
Either way, if something happens, I’ll be there.

A tentatively raised hand. I like the idea of something to bring Forsaken characters together, but I also think that it’s going to need a stronger incentive than just getting together to discuss old Forsaken lore beats IC.

You’ve been at the forefront for some time of forsaken themed guilds (besides the PCU), what else do you think could be done?
I personally think we could just start a casual Forsaken / Undercity discord - guilds are exclusive and many other races do have at least a community hub to join and organise events focused on them like once a month (Taurens for example).
We certainly have become “democratic” as a faction - hosting debates once a month on topics related to our survival and place in the world could be a good idea maybe?
Just thinking out loud, I haven’t got the experience to lead something like it so just wondering what other’s think.

I think that taking some inspiration from the Call of the Silver Hand events could work. Ground it more in the RP people are out there doing. Military RPers could come and talk about the current dangers they are facing, civilian RPers could come and tell about whatever work they are currently up to, and so on. Something to let everyone know what’s going on with the Forsaken of Argent Dawn specifically. I think that would facilitate more of a sense of community and perhaps open people’s eyes to doing more collaborative stuff.

I think if you do that, the conversations about the future of the Forsaken and Calia Menethil and whatever, are going to happen too. They usually do when Forsaken get together.

Yeah that sounds awesome! What were those events like? How would we go around it? Just a general gathering of people talking here and there or some main events too like lectures?
