A Serious and Organised Crime unit unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Overview
The Steamwheedle Serious and Organised Crime Unit (Steamwheedle SOC) has been formed in response to the ever-scaling conflict between the Steamwheedle and Bilgewater Cartels. It exists as a proactive arm for the Steamwheedle Cartel’s financial assets, spearheading investigations into high-profile crimes committed against them. The Steamwheedle SOC recruits only the most hardened Goblins from a variety of fields and expertise. Talent overrides history as Bruisers and thieves end up on the same team. Sometimes, to be the good guy, you’ve got to be the bad guy.
That’s why catching crooks is only half of the Steamwheedle SOC’s directive. In the pursuit of furthering the Cartel’s financial dominance, the unit has been granted clearance to commit serious and organised crime against all other factions. So long as an operation can be justified to their Director(s), the Steamwheedle SOC has free reign to engage in robbery, extortion and murder.
It would not be uncommon for an SOC operative to simultaneously be engaging in counter-piracy operations in Stranglethorn, while investigating the potential to green-light a bank robbery in Bilgewater Harbour.
Out of Character Details
The Steamwheedle SOC is a small Goblin-only Guild balancing dangerously between themes of law enforcement and criminal RP.
The unit’s purpose lends to a ridiculous variety of events, ranging from large-scale operations against the Bloodsail pirates to covert crackdowns on unwelcome gang activity in Steamwheedle settlements. Every character on the roster is a vital cog in the machine as complex solo missions (such as the assassination of a Bilgewater socialite) offer a bounty of character development and guild progression.Where events end, casual RP begins. While they are considered as “law enforcement” on paper, there’s no doubt that the Steamwheedle SOC is an antagonist guild. Their aggressive operations put them directly in conflict with the Bilgewater Cartel, which in turn puts them in conflict with the Horde its self. The Steamwheedle Cartel has had turbulent relations with both the Horde and Alliance through Azeroth’s history, and this roster of ruffians is set to throw a spanner in the works. With the rise of cross-faction RP, we’ll finally even be able to both the Alliance’s criminal and military guilds a run for their money.
Ranks, Codenames and more!
As operatives work to unravel their Bilgewater rivals they have the opportunity to climb through the ranks right up to Senior Investigator!
After Recruits have proven themselves as fully-fledged Operatives, they’ll be able to specialize in a variety of skills such as assassination and espionage.Drawing parallels with the Bilgewater Cartel’s infamous Gob Squad, the Steamwheedle SOC designates a codename to pretty much everything and everyone. Operation Flying Piglets is currently making fantastic progress. All employees are paid weekly, and keep 50% of all earnings made in operations conducted on behalf of the Steamwheedle Cartel.
tl;dr A Goblin-only, Steamwheedle rival to Bilgewater Goblins/guilds, parodying real-world serious and organized crime agencies by such crimes just as much as they investigate them.
