First of all it’s not “my lore” it’s “THE lore”. Second of all, I am happy for you when you have fun roleplaying there. Argent Dawn is way to large to have a single consens on lore. If you think two units being sent there is enough to justify walking around the zone freely, go ahead. But if I was the only one that still considers the zone a no-go to just be in, then it would already be a huge hub. The zone is extremly well designed, beautiful and charming. Trust me, many would want to go there. We are all waiting for an actual lore update for the zone.
Yes yes, THE lore… we all know that’s what I meant, talk about nit-picking.
It stops being THE lore when you arbitrarily disregard pieces of lore as meaningless (as you did the mission table lore)
At that point it’s your lore, or rather, your headcanon.
You could roleplay a unit similar to the ones being sent there. But everything that goes beyond that requires interpretation and assumptions. So I agree with you partly. That’s why I think for example Nightfall Brigade being there makes sense, while other people that have been there alot in the past months I can just facepalm at.
You would agree with me that characters besides very specialized military units should not exactly be incetivices to go there with the amount of lore and information we have as of now. There is also no evidence of camps being set up that are larger than what can hold guerilla (how do you spell that lol) striking units.
The biggest issue is the stupid map that wowhead made. That mislead so many people by spreading false information that was not confirmed by Blizzard.
You can read all the missions regarding Gilneas in the gamepedia wiki. It’s very limited…
Ever since this was posted, our group has been growing larger and larger. So a little bump is in order, so it don’t go too far down.
re: all the people arguing over Gilneas lore
I find it extremely ineffective and odd to argue so much over three separate sources all of which I wouldn’t exactly call strictly canon.
>
Table missions in BfA claim that Alliance troops move through Gilneas and on a single occasion it’s mentioned that the Horde wants to unleash blight on Gilneas (implying that Gilneas is populated to a degree).

At BlizzCon it was stated that Gilneas is an Alliance base in the north in passing.

Christie Golden suggested that she thought that Forsaken refugees from Lordaeron would find safe haven in Gilneas.
Don’t forget that table missions were probably an after thought and I have a sneaking suspicion that they were written with little input on part of the story team.
BlizzCon often presents things different from how they end up in the end product - changes are made and since there’s no mention in-game of that supposed goal to attack Gilneas we can’t be sure whether that’s still the case or not.
And Christie Golden… Nothing against her, but it’s really odd to consider tweets as something canon - it’s more of a suggestion on her part, not a statement.
And because of that all three recent Gilneas lore bits are kinda meh to be completely honest. Verdict? Go ahead with whatever you want, to be frank. If Blizzard can’t provide an explanation on the lore there’s nothing wrong with a bit of headcanon. I do hope that the heritage armor questline provides some clarification however.
On the OG topic of the initiative, keep up the good work fams! Good to see Gilneans getting some of that RP alive.
How about the areas around Gilneas? Not the city itself but the mansion and the small towns?
Also: Did you know you can fly over the ocean from menithal harbour to the Gilneas region?
Yeah, sorry, thats mine now. You guys left it laying around so I took it.
We are currently not even thinking about the city it self, for now, only place used is Keel harbor. As the community grows, there are plans for expansion into the other small villages around the city. I would like to say that our end goal would be on reclaiming the city it self, but due to lack of ANY info regarding Gilneas so far, i would say thats a lofty goal and it would probably stay that, indefinately.
Keel Harbor is a Horde base however
whats the lore here
Goldein said the lore is what ever we want so anything goes I guess.
I do like that. If we are unbound by the restrictions of lore we can pretty much do whatever we want.
The only problem I can see with that is if you RP in a certain location for three months only to be told that lorewise that could not happen because of common lore that everyone (except you) know.
This has happened to me before.
(Not that I know that much lore anyway.)
Wow lore is pretty flexable from what I’ve seen. Any problem can be solved by magic, any injury can be cured by magic, until the narrative needs it not to be.
That being said, I still feel like there is a lot of potential for Gilneas. Both the region and the city. So I hope to see more RP in the regions around the city.
Even though I never played a worgen, I do love the eerie feel of the area and I think others do too.
We will adress the little bits we do know, such as the Blight being present and Forsaken refugees having a presence in the region.
We want to create a hub for everyone who wants to RP in Gilneas (not just Gilneans, but elves, other humans and everyone who will join the project) that offers dynamic challenges, steady flow of RP and a friendly community.
Whoever wishes to disregard our RP as not possible because of some passing words of lore from eight years ago is free to do so, the only thing we ask is for these people to simply ignore and live their lives without coming to the zone or the forums to troll us.
It can’t be worse than Stormwind, at the very least. Enjoy the art and music, great zone!
I wish you the best of luck. I will be keeping an eye on the forums for more information about it. It sounds like something I would be interested in.
I know I am a bit of an oddity to throw my old helmet into this, but once I make the ally version of the old man, he can return to aiding the Gilneans as he did a few months ago.
Gilneas for Gilneans.
Rebuild the wall!
Undead get out
I Agree with this message.
At least leave me a like if you’re going to play me like that Dudflex, smh.
