Hey. Every time I disconnect, which usually happens when I log in for some reason, my interface options like ‘Names’, ‘Floating Combat Text’, ‘Always Show Action Bars,’ ‘Status Text,’ ‘Camera Following Style,’ ‘Nameplate Motion Type’ all reset back to their defaults.
I’ve had this for years now. Is there a fix to this?
Thnx for the reply. I run the launcher as administrator, but the client (WoWClassic) in Classic folder was not set to ‘Run as administrator’ so I’ve just checked this, and it should fix it I imagine?
I also read on another old topic about this issue tha having the WTF folder properties on ‘Read only’ can cause issues, but when I took it off ‘read only’ and launched the game, it reset back to ‘Read only’ - not sure if this is the issue though.
My other detail that may be causing issues is that my WoW installation folder is on my desktop instead of ‘Local Disk C:’ and/or Program Files, could this be an issue too?
You don’t need to run anything as Admin. It’s probably why you’re having the issues (mixed permissions). Having your Wow folder on your desktop can cause issues too.
The better approach here is to disable all the run as admin nonsense on the executables, copy the Wow folder to *C:\Users\Public*. Then delete the old wow folder on your desktop.
Launch the launcher and go into the options to point it to the right folder.
Thanks. It seems my issue of the interface resetting options has stopped ever since I put ‘run as admin’ on the client, BUT I still get a lot of disconnecting upon logging into my chars just after the loading screen so it takes me two tries to login sometimes and I assume it’s addon-related.
I did however move WoW to program files to see if it helps though.
