Alright, I assume a lot of you have seen the council fight of Scarlet Enclave now? The boss Vishas specifically uses an abilitity that needs to be interrupted or else you basically die. Easy enough, right?
Well, the problem is that the ability (even with Curse of Tongues) is a 2 second cast. 2 seconds is easy enough to interupt, sure…
But interrupts in Classic are on the GCD. If that ability (or any other mechanic) goes off just as you’ve pressed a button on your DPS rotation, you’re basically locked out of interupting it.
This can be dealt with, but it’s poorly designed. Either lay off the ‘interupt’ mechanics in Classic-based versions of WoW, or give everybody an interupt that isn’t on the GCD.
(Counterspell is a 20 second CD spell, that isn’t reliable either)
While progging council on horde end, people noticed that Vishas also doesn’t cast his interruptable spell anytime it should’ve been kicked. Something along these lines from a fellow raider:
“There were times when I physically couldn’t kick due it being on cd and it was my turn and thankfully person got it because he was a shaman.
Other times he would just decide not to cast it at all”
Kicks cannot be on the GCD, they need to be coded to be OFF THE GCD. And that goes for every class that can kick without dealing major damage.
A single frostbolt going through wasn’t a guaranteed wipe.
No, not really. There’s only been KT and the adds on Sulfuron Harbinger from the original game that required an interupt. Interupts helped on bug trio and Prophet, but weren’t a requirement.
On top of this; you weren’t GCD locked in Classic; my DPS rotation was Bloodthirst and Whirlwind; I could use hamstring inbetween for other GCD’s but I didn’t lose much DPS if I chose to wait for an interupt instead. Also:
DPS also didn’t matter, nothing in Classic had a tight enrage timer.
Furthermore; Blizzard removed interupts from the GCD for everyone when it started to actually be used as a game mechanic.
