Is 1800 even possible rn?

Dear all,

I am desperate. Unfortunately, I decided to start PVP quite late this addon but I managed to fight myself up to 1600, and even 1700 for a - very - brief moment. Since then I am falling like a comet. Suddenly the far majority of my random grps have heals who can’t heal, dps who can’t dps (or focus it) or FC who run to the enemy graveyard to pick up heal buff. The horrors I witnessed this week alone would not fit in this post. It is like 1600 suddenly became “low cr” bracket.

I managed to lower my winrate this week to 30% and I really do not know what to do. I am a very eager and ambitious person and I am so stressed out/frustrated by this I can’t put it in words. I inspect everyone in the group, gear, exp and cr. I try to find those “1.9xp leader” groups but honestly, most of them disappoint. However, I can not lead either. Also, sadly those few wins I have were with 2 good groups. All the other 10+ groups were losses all the time.

This is my situation. What should I do? I am in many communities and a guild but nobody seems to do RBGs in a serious manner/at all. I really really want to achieve my goal of 1800 rating to get the remaining PVP set parts and upgrades, but it seems it became impossible. Instead of advancing from 1700 and closing in to 1800 I am trying to remain above 1600 for a month now…

Is it even possible to get to 1800 right now? Or am I just exceptionally bad?

Buy a boost.

Yeh buy a boost with a wow token. Thats what activi$ion want you to do and is why they took away scaling in random BGs and arenas. To force people like you who missed the boat into buying wow tokens for a boost.

They are doing the same thing in BC. Locking gear behind a rating straight off the bat from S1 and introducing the wow token

Go full pve… Pvp is s**t in shadowlands

im in the same boat as you. I’ve been stuck around 1700 for maybe 2 months now. I am resisting buying a token and a boost because i dont like that cr*p. If i cant reach 1.8k i see it as a matter of ‘‘im not there yet’’ so i just try to learn until i get better. I play with pugs and communities but i try to be as selective as possible with the groups. I tend to /w people to see if they actually know what to do, like the rogue or tank i always make sure they know how to defend or ninja. When i run into someone who is good, vocal, or just fun to play with i try to add them on bnet and put a little note ‘‘rbgs good TC’’ for example so when i look for a group i try to get them invited.

I think it is possible, at least i hope it is, but the traffic has dropped a lot recently.

edit: hey guys i reached 1.8k last week, its totally possible

But pve is s**t in SL too. Low amount of dungeons with mostly super restricted way to run it. One raid that is just horrible and raiding outside of first kill makes zero sense since they killed log ranking. PvP is a clown fiesta as you all probably noticed. Solo content in a form Choreghast and Choremaw are probably the most boring and repetitive content in wow’s 17y history. Whats left? Lvling alts…oh wait, all you can do is spamming the same quest line with every char or run the same few stupid dungeons instead. Gearing your alts is close to impossible, unless your sallary is so high you dont feel bad for pumping hundreads or thousands of € into a company that doesnt deserve it. And if you buy the boost to get all your gear, you end up bored lvling a new char anyway.

Definitely possible, reached 1800 easily as outlaw rogue 2 days ago, I’m confident about duelist too.

This game solo is unplayable, u will face a lot of issues - mainly u don’t need to anyone untill u can help them to climb. Its a very long time not social club to play, its boosting and progress factory, so forget it. Buy a boost or be ready to play on responsible roles or do organizational job.

Yes, 1.8k is impossible.

blizzard made such horrible pvp gear system, wonder what they were thinking

They listened to guys like Asmongold (gear should matter), because they know streamers that have alot of viewers, have an impact on what they say. And streamers of this game dont go around in 200 ilvl, they go with the top gear in the game, and they wanna feel satisfied by moping down regulars in a matter of seconds, especially Asmongold since he probably never had a girlfriend, he needs a scapegoat. Thats what happened. Either you adapt by the new “git gud” or you are just stuck in the lowest bracket of the food chain.

By pugging it is now nearly impossible, because there are so few groups available. The key is to select good pugs in LFG tool, it’s possible when u know the tips… but only works if there are many groups queuing…

I did it 2 month ago with my disco coz it’s meta, i could easily go in any group, and pvp was still alive. But now good luck :frowning:

VERY rarely, when checking people’s characters do I get someone who didn’t hit 2.1k at least this season and 1 every 5 games is a booster. I’m not arguing against the innate competitiveness of PVP, any PvP game is going to be competitive especially when it’s been out for so long. The systems around SKILL are what make PvP unbearable.

What exacerbates the problem is the gear discrepancy and how much it matters IN COMBINATION with the burst meta that really leaves no room for mistakes early on. Facing Glads wouldn’t be as much of a problem if they didn’t outgear the average player by 10-20 ilvls. It’s the toxicity of the systems that create an unfair competitive advantage not dependent on skill.

Wow PvP is already extremely hard and demands you have an advanced understanding of most classes and the meta in order to progress. it is the ADDITION of power creep, getting bursted in two globals AND boosting that makes it unbearable and not worth the time, at least until these problems get addressed.

I had over 1.5k games played and managed to get to 1.75k. My friend who was playing with me managed to get to 2k at the beginning of the season (proof at how gearing broke the game) and later (February/March) couldn’t get over 1.4k. We switched to M+ and raiding and it’s clear to me that this is how the Devs want us to play the game. Cooldown stacking, Boosted people, Gear discrepancy, and class utility don’t literally break the game and make you feel useless. Also, it feels like you can generally keep improving, and 9/10 if you don’t succeed it’s because of factors you can control and not random crit one-shots that killed you in half a global. I suggest you do the same until they decide to take PvP as seriously as they do PvE.

Actually Asmongold had a very beautiful girlfriend named Pink Sparkles.

It is possible, there are quite few teams every day, farming 1800-2100.

You need to be smart when u join certain teams.Inspect them, see how many games they played, what lege items they have, what spec, what’s their arena rating, check their previous pvp achievements etc…

If you join a group just for sake of joining one, because u want to play, while having tripple dh,paladin tank, fury warrior etc,u wont win rest assured.

If you see people aint willing to communicate, leave asap.Nvm if they won previous 10 games.Saying on voice ‘‘inc mage tower’’ is much easier than typing in game.

If people have 200 games played while being stuck at 1400 rating, don’t expect to have much success.

If your target caller is a mute, and you doubt your headphone connection, because he’s nowhere to heard, wait for game to be over and ignore him.

If your leader or target called cant speak english properly, there’s going to be massive clusterfok with 2 of them trying to pronounce stuff while in game.

At the end of the day,its your cr,and no one is going to give it to you for free. You have right to be picky about stuff, until you reach desired ratings. After that you can have fun all u want with whatever.

This is a game true, and people should have fun,but most people don’t.Especially multi rank 1 people. When they are pushing rating, they don’t care about nothing else, nor they having fun. There’s nothing fun about losing and seeing your rating melts away.Did you enjoy playing 210 games without being able to reach 1800?No you didn’t.

There’s no way in hell anyone can enjoy game with group finder hell being as it is.

You can enjoy it if you do it properly, but doing it properly requires stumbling upon proper players, which is rare, especially now with season ending soon.

First of all, you are not alone in that situation, probably 80% of the players who play this game mostly solo / didn’t play consistently over the years and didn’t manage to make a large connection network with other pvp-ers / don’t have a solid team that they play only with are in this situation.
You are therefore forced to play the LFG lottery. Which is exactly that. You can win 3-4 games in a row with a good team at 1700, then lose 4 5 in a row with bad teams.
Secondly, THERE IS NOTHING skill wise that you can do, or you should feel like improving your gameplay or that you are not good enough yet for 1800. That is bull*shiet that people who got boosted will say to you, GIT GOOD. There is no getting good in RBGs, your individual skill is not relevant in a 10vs10 match. Sure, it may help a bit, but unless everyone has the same mindset, you are only going to be the first on Kills/Dmg/Healing on the losing side. As a consolation prize, nothing more.
When I was doing rbgs on my rogue, I had games where I was both top kills, assaulted+defended 5-6 bases, and manage to steal bases and waste 3-4 of their peoples time. It DID NOT MATTER. We still somehow lost, because my team was losing all teamfights. It made me feel powerless.
SOME TIPS to maximise your chances in the rbg roulette:

  • BE EXTREMELY Picky. You have as much to lose as the leader that makes groups. Even if you get invited, if you have a bad feeling about the group, DO LEAVE. Better wait 15-20 mins then losing 15-20 rating and have to win that back as well.
  • NEVER join no voice. At 1200 or 2200, having voice makes all the difference.
  • If RL asks who can TC, and nobody answers confidently, or if there is a 20 seconds silence, leave the group or hope they get a solid TC if there is still a spot left.
  • Inspect the people who joined YOURSELF too, regardless of your raid leader. I had plenty of times I joined groups listed as 1600+ cr, and when I inspected the people leader invited, some where under 700 rating…
  • Check out the comp. By now, after 200 games, you should know at least generally what a winning rbg team is in regards to classes/specs. If you see the lead invite 3 rogues and no range dps, better leave earlier.
  • Have everyone join Voice at least 5 minutes before starting. Get a feel of the group, how talkative they are, by just making small talk. If only 2-3 people talk out of 10, it will be exactly the same during the RBG itself, I can guarantee.

If none of this matters, then probably its time to do arenas instead. It may be harder at start, but there improving your gameplay will actually translate into more wins, and being 50% or 33% of your team means you are much more of a deciding factor then being 10%.

I busted my butt off gearing 2 chars, this is my third.

It took me 35 wins to get 1800 on first char,27 wins on second and on this one it looks like i wont be even getting it this season.

All groups left in lfg are horrendous (at least at low cr) all decent players got their ratings already, all that is left if people with 400 games at 1200 rbg rating.

if you play healer, add me Marreant#2406

ill take you to 1.8, we will use ingame voice.

this is obviously for free, no need for discord links or gold. This aint just for op but for any healer willing to learn, while im no pro by any means, i will try my best to make you reach 1.6/1.8, let me guide you the best i can while having a few laughs.

I dont know you,but i will thank you anyway for helping out people.
