Is Al'Akir's mount drop is bug? (Wind drake)

Last week ago Collector’s Bounty started, I killed Al’Akir with 26 alts. No drop.
When weekly reset and try again kill Al’Akir.
More same 26 alts like 52 killed still dont drop Drake of the South Wind
feel it’s bugged

Edit: Since last week ago I got 10 mounts+ dropped.

Only this boss dont drop. It’s why me guess it’s bugged

It’s not bugged!

Remember, it’s a flat 5% for it to drop. Meaning, you have a 95% chance for it to not drop.

You’re just unlucky at the moment and remember you have until the end of the month!

10 drops out of how many mounts missing that you went out for with 26 characters…?

Seen guildies getting it.

At 5% the coin-toss for a drop is 13 kills.

So you just lost 5 coin-tosses in a row.

I mean you have had an amazing run but as this was said

^^ this happens.

Thing you have to remember is not to expect to get all mounts you want this event.

I have 108 kills of Alysrazor. No drop. Most mounts drops for me in 30-40 kills. Idk, all who got mounts in few kills will get Curse of Diarrhea for entire next season.

Do you say the same while playing the lottery…

I’m sure they’ll rerun the event.

It’s not bugged, some just take more runs. Took me +40 runs to get it, dropped yesterday. I got same amount running Ashes and no luck there either. Just to clarify more, I got about 30 alts running this event, some just up to cata content since they’re low level.

I got it. And handmaiden. If you got midnight i want to trade.

Lets make it like FF14 - it has a 20% chance to drop and you can run it as many times as you like.

This “event” is an insult to long term WoW players.

I first started playing wow when BC had just come and I don’t feel insulted at all.

First, you can repeat Al’Akir with the same alt in normal until it drops. It dropped for me in 5 attemps so it is not bugged.

52 attemps? With that many attemps you have a 92% probability of the mount have dropped (1 - 0,95^52)x100
Does that means it is bugged for you? No. Even if your overall probability is 92 you still have an 8% of failling, that’s it doing the dungeon 52 times and not getting the mount. Another way to see it is that on average among all players who try this mount 92 of every 100 players will have it before 52 attempts. And 8 unlucky ones will need more attempts. You are in that 8% unlucky percentile.

It sucks but that’s how probability works. Sometimes you are in the 5% lucky percentile that have it in the first try…and sometimes you are in the unlucky percentile (wich is by the way 59 attemps. The unlucky 5% percentile is 59)

Rarer = better, its something which keep this game alive

Easy obtainable stuff in this game = worthless = just another number in people alredy bloated collection. And people never ride them anyway, waste of time and ressources to draw them.

If they ressurect Michelangelo Buonarroti and guy create mount in WoW, and blizzard decide to gief this mount to all player base it will instantly become worthless, regadless the fact that this mount is top tier art.

Than if I draw a 3D Box in gray default color and Blizzard make it that only 0.01% community can obtain mount it will be best mount in game

Thats how things Work in wow, hard to obtain is good stuff.

I’ve been playing WoW since before the European launch (played for a month with the US version, which I had to get imported to the UK at the time - when I lived in the UK).

So I’m a very old school/long term WoW player and this event is a nice welcome. You need to understand that World of Warcraft has a FAR smaller player base compared to what it once had during the original, TBC & WoLTK days.

This event is a way to drive engagement and try and get some players back into the game, even if it for that month. Remember, World of Warcraft is a product, that Blizzard needs to continue making money from, to continue to provide expansions and keep the servers running.

If that fails to happen, WoW would become F2P and would turn into a 100% chinese bot farming game, where everyone is cheating to some degree and the normal players have since uninstalled the game. (it would indeed be the end of WoW and I feel Blizzard would rather end their servers, than take that route).

If you were to place 1,000 long term wow players in a room and tell them there are 2 doors, 1 is the normal drop rate of mounts and legendary items or the other door, where for a month, you get the drop rate of those things increase to 5%. Which door do you think those 1,000 players will take?

THE DOOR WITH THE 5% DROP RATE!

People who crying “this is an insult” or whatever other random cry for attention that comes out of their brain, acting like they’ve a victim of something that has no personal impact on their life, is a few drops of water in the ocean of the player base.

Maybe, you already have? I will tell story!

I was farming food recipe in TBC and never got it for 6 months so I decided to make gm ticket. Guess what? GM told me I already have that recipe…!!! Oh my god!

The upcoming scenario after this event ends:

Those who came just for this event to get good use of it will either:

  • stop playing again
  • stop farming cosmetics with renewed low drop rates
  • or start to complain on the forums the event droprate should be permanent or expanded to other drops to make them farm more, in that case they get everything pretty quickly and stop farmin / playing like in option 1 or 2

Those who farmed before the event will either:

  • consider future regular farming sessions as a pure time waste outside the event and wait for next one to push and until then might even take regular breaks from the game
  • stop collecting because of invalidation, as everyone who delivers the bare minimum will have everything
  • farm like this event has never happened, but I guess this will be a minority

In the end this event has opened more doors to additional complaing / whining on the forums after it ends, also to additional demands for more content being invalidated and more entitled behavior and posts here on the forums.

I doubt this all brings any long term benefits, but Blizzard traded all this for a short spike in subs. Let us see…

Dude you bought your 13 keys who are you to tell others that should not have things.`
