Is Alleria immortal?

Immortal as in ageless?

She absorbed that Void Naaru on Argus. Lightforged are immortal so I wonder if she is immortal as well.

And if she is, are Void Elves in general immortal?

Probably not
Lightforging is a complicated ritual that makes you immortal (a bit like how the Light is gravitating toward crystals, never changing deserts, such things)
She absorbed a Naaru in its void state… stole it powers and became void-infused
Now “Void-forged” is not a term, tho’ sounds cool, but Void thingies are not really immortal, they are just outside the Cycle. They could die… but then get better. Like how the C’traxxi “regenerate” death tho sometimes it takes a few millenia and lots of them uppon death “travel to Ny’alotha”. They are fleshy, mortal… but not in the sense like a human or a plant, or anything living; the Void made the Old Gods as much living and “real” as needed to be able to exist in the universe, but even Y’Shaarj, who was torn apart by Aman’Thul himself and ended up in pieces are hinted is getting better (Island expedition, Wriggling mass ittem that starts that mini quest if anyone interested). The void things could die, that is not a question, so by definition they are not immortal… they are just outside the Cycle.
I have no proof, but Alleria is “just” an Elf, long lived (there are various sources how old is she tho… ) and in the Twisting Nether times is… a big ball of wibbly -wobbly, timey-wimey stuff. So neither of she or her human boytoy aged that much.
She consumed a voidy-entity and stole much of its power but we don’t really know how this effected her aging
And we know nothing aboit the Void Elves to be honest… but since they are void infused? I would say they probably ended up outside the cycle… they could die. Buteven Death is not and escape from the Void and the Whispers.
A bit tragic
And who knows, maybe every time they die and come back, they bring back a bit more and more of their masters… like Rasputin from Hell Boy… :eyes:

Depends on a source used.

She did.

Xal’atath:The caterpillar has become the butterfly. She is all but ours now.
(after L’ura’s defeat, when Alleria absorbs her power)

As a mix of tentacles and other things like that - maybe. Depends on how much they give in. As their trainers are ethereals, Locus Walker and Shadreen,

Xal’atath: He flaunts his defiance of the shadows. Arrogance will be his undoing.
(at Locus-Walker)

likely their path eventually would lead there.

Of course, that is not the only possibility, but given lack of consistency from the current narrative team, I would rather not try to predict things.

I always found it weird how she can change her elf form. It’s like High Elf changing to Night Elf.

This caught me off as well…

Much as I hate Void Elves to their core, it feels like Alleria has been skipping quite a lot of steps. Like, she’s more…

Void Elf Lite?

And since it’s all magic in the end that should have transformative side-effects (tenta-hair, purpl’skin etc…) could all Elves do that? What is corruption anymore ._.

It seems pretty unlikely. She’s not reached max age for a Thalassian Elf, and seems pretty spry. The sources are a bit screwy. She is detailed in lore as having fought in the Troll Wars. Now they ended 2,800 years ago. It is easy to point at King Anasterian and references to ‘Three Millennia’, but that’s kind of misleading, I mean it means nothing. I mean if we want to be technical about it, I have lived in two Centuries (as I will imagine, have most here) Doesn’t make me 200 (Except on Sunday’s when I wake up with a Hangover, then I feel like it :stuck_out_tongue: ) I’ve also (As I would imagine have most here) lived in two Millennia, and I am certainly not 2,000 years old.
Given that he was reigning monarch at the start of the Troll Wars, this seems to suggest that he -reigned as King- for three thousand years, he likely was older by far.

We know that since Night Elves and Nightborne are no longer immortal, they have the same Lifespan as all other Elves, that being described as “Several Thousand Years” in canon lore. ‘Several’ is a vaguely specific (I know that is an oxymoron) term in language, you only ever use it in English to describe a number more than two, and less than 10. You never say ‘Several’ if you mean ‘two’ or ‘ten’, only the numbers inbetween.
As such Elves live between 3 and 9 thousand years. (This was canon before Void Elves existed, we do not know if they fit into ‘All Elves’ therefore) We do hear Lorash Sunbeam in ‘A Good War’ stating he was born on Eastern Kingdoms, but -before- Silvermoon was built, which would put him at 7,000 years old at least. He is still fairly confident he can take Malfurion in a mano et mano fight, and is pretty ninjamatic, not a doddery old elf.

However.

Whilst Blizz say the Novels are canon, the author themselves admitted that in that particular encounter they had made errors. Now they specified that they had made a mistake when Malfurion said the Night Elves would never have harmed or attacked the Exiled Quel’dorei. Well…We know this isn’t true, I mean, d’uhh, starting Blood Elf quests… The Author did confirm they had gotten that wrong, that lore wise the Kaldorei did indeed attack the Sin’dorei and in their defence they had not experienced the Blood Elf starting zone, or had ‘forgotten’ it. This is the same dialogue in which Lorash’s age is brought up, and so does in turn call question on his claim to be seven thousand years old, even though as that was not corrected, he may well have been telling the truth.

Basically Alleria being all nimbly bimbly at her age is entirely possible for any elf, and not a sign of immortality at all.

I’d say the chances are high that -if- the Void had made a difference to Elven longevity, it would be a negative one, it is after all a power of entropy and destruction, and entropy is pretty much aging, or gradual decline. Your Average Void Elf -probably- as a result of infusing themselves with raw Entropy, is therefore likely to have a shorter lifespan than other Elves. This is however just my hypothesis based on what the Void is/does.

Remember, despite this “One thousand years of War” rubbish, that is conceptual time, perceived time, not -actual- time. She’s actually only about 30 years older than she was when she left Azeroth, which is a mere blip to an Elf.

Basically we don’t know for certain, but from what we -do- know about Elven aging, and the nature of the Void, she most certainly is not likely to be immortal, nor are Void Elves. In fact all the signposts are pointing towards a shorter life expectancy than other Elves have.

Hope that gives some ideas…

Lorash’ mother was a Highborne during the reign of Azshara, and only died as recently as the Scourge invasion of Quel’thalas, which makes her the sole High Elf thusfar who has lived for more then 10,000 years!

I know right? How crazy is that! I’m going with “Lorash sounds cool, and the story of the Exodus from Kalimdor is probably what it was like, but I’m not buying it that everything in that narrative is 100% correct. Especially when the -Author- has said that everything in that narrative is -not- 100% correct!”

I mean given that Azshara is a Naga, and the Night Elves/borne were in stasis as far as ageing went for 10,000 years, does that mean that Lorash’s dear old Mum was the oldest Elf in the history of the Species!

Madness I tell you! :stuck_out_tongue:

She does turn voidy during Combat like any other Void elf would. Wether they are natural or not

At that point, it’s more like an emotional trigger than anything actually void-y though. A whole ‘don’t make me angry’ kind of ideal.

Mind, I also have this same problem with other faction leaders exhibiting this same special position whilst also standing far apart from the race they are meant to be attached to.

Light-Undead Calia stands as another example.

My understanding is, that Lightforging only grants immortality because the Light itself likes Order, the Light-nuked places in the Mag’har Recruitment Scenario are frozen in time etc.
The Void and it’s servant are the opposite of that, the Curse of Flesh created
by the Old Gods made the affected races Mortal in the first place, changed from perfectly orderly immortal servants created by the Titans.
So I think the Use and Overuse of Void-Magic helps in the dissolution of the mortal form, but may grant a way to exist beyond it (as seen in Ethereals who are basically only an energy-field)

The only way she stands out is having Blonde hair (white hair in Void form). That’s it.

Otherwise she looks exactly like a natural skinned void elf would look, aside from tattoos she had since Warcraft 2.

Calia is a different case. She’s a human Lightforged undead, who is not entirely forsaken. I would argue she’s not even the Forsaken leader since she keeps denying that role. Currently, Lillian Voss is listed as a the Forsaken representative in the council, but I’m not sure that would qualify her as a leader too.

I guess we will find out later, but I really do hope it’s Lillian Voss, not Calia

Anything could be with the new direction. The nature of the curse is not clear. It mimics the same thing that happened on Draenor, plus, the soul of mortals connected to the body by the Life (undead - by Death). Maybe the reason why the curse of flesh worked the way it did is not even related to the Shadow in general.
:man_shrugging:

Light and Shadow are ancient and supposedly from somewhere beyond the physical reality of Warcraft. What does time even mean to them.

Blizz have enough troubles as is, without having to deal with the consequences of an attempt to make Calia a full-time horde character IMO.

question is, was Alleria lightforged to, Turalyon seems to be atleast, meening if Alleria also did the lightforge part, she could be immortal, what would make things realy confusing, becue Alleria would then be a lightforged void elf.

Nope, She was not. Being Lightforged would have made becoming the first Void Elf impossible. She’d have basically went ‘Kerblammo!’ and dispersed herself over a wide area as a sticky pulp.

She can’t even -touch- her husband, as he is imbued with Light, and she with Void. Before anyone says “But in ‘Three Sisters’!!!” look at the art of that frame, they have hands -close- to each other, not actually touching.

Trust me, as a Divorcee, you don’t even need Infusing with cosmic powers to make that a thing!

Not immortal as being invincible and regenerating from everything like Zamasu in DB super. But she is immortal as she does not age or suffer from aging at all. It is proven in warcraft than theese cosmic forces can sustain you for thousands of years minimum . Like as an example nightborne elves in suramar were thousands of years old, no sign of aging. Due to arcane energy sustaining them. Void can do the same it is just it requires fuel as it is enthrophy, i think she needs to siphon energy from living beings or just from cosmos itself and she can survive for many eons. Also if aleria choose to shed her physical body and exist as some kind of shadow/void projection then she can be truly immortal and see the universe end, ofc she will cease to be too as Void at the end will consume all realities.
