Hey guys! I want to play my rogue as alt and I was wondering how is sin doing these days? I really like the playstyle and I have no interest in outlaw/sub (both specs are really boring to me) so my question is is sin good for m+ content?
You should play what you like, but sin rogue is F-Tier in PvE. Wonât be easy to find groups
Assassination is trash for m+, the damage profile is horrendous. The design is antithetical to how m+ is played, if its not the pulls keeping you in combat its the bosses having long death dialogue while next pull is happening.
So if youâre not heavily invested into assassination as a main player i wouldnt suggest the spec for anyone. Unfortunately it is my main spec, and its been trash for several expansions. Legion messed up the damage profile a lot, and further changes just doubled down on the wrong direction.
Thanks for the replies guys⌠really sad to hear that. I guess I wonât be playing my rogue for now
Assa is viable for M+.
But because itâs viable it doesnât mean itâs good. Itâs worst from the rogue specs. Itâs currently lowest DPS spec according to warcraftlogs for raiding.
Itâs worst melee spec(after survival) for m+. Itâs subpar compared to most of the other specs. To actually do some DPS youâd need really good gear, even then youâll be doing less than other players with comparable ilvl/skill.
If you have other alts - please donât waste your time playing that horrendously done spec. Itâs for your own sanity.
123k overall dps in academy yesterday in +20 as assassination. You can decide if thatâs bad or not.
Itâs neither, because itâs an anecdological example.
But letâs dive in! Considering that AA is one of the easiest dungeon to get highest DPS output and this week has probably the easiest affixes combination since the launch of Dragonflight I wouldnât say thatâs something special and should be considered as an argument about the overall Assassination performance in this season.
Facts:
-Assassination is second least played DPS class in M+ - (0,6% from the whole M+20 and higher timed runs),
-Assassination is second least played melee DPS class in M+ - (1,2% from the whole M+20 and higher timed runs),
-there are only 12 Assassination rogues who timed +25M and higher keys in this season,
-âonlyâ 2158 Assassination rogues timed +20M+ or higher keys, compared to 29354 Havoc Demon Hunters or 18745 Windwalker Monks, itâs really low
The spec is viable, thatâs obvious. But itâs underperforming compared to other specs in the game. People playing other classes with the same gear and skill will just do better DMG and have better performance.
I agree the spec is viable, but Iâm having a hard time with pugs this season. Tanks donât even know how the spec works. They keep chain pulling (not even in spiteful weeks) so we canât benefit from our stealth IC + Iron Wire or at least improved garrote which is vital for energy regeneration.
Also like every 4th group Iâm getting asked: Sub or outlaw?
I donât like the current playstyle of the other rogue specs so Iâm considering rerolling for S2. Itâs not worth the effort.
Im also playing an alt beastmaster hunter ( nothing serious just for fun) and its just as hard to find pug m+ as DD compared to heals or tanks ( i also have a holy pala just for fun and i usually dont wait more than 5 secs for an invite) . We definitely lose some DPS when the tanks chain pull - the worst of which is when there is 1 mob with 1pixel hp left and the tank pulls next group .
I actually think a good solution - assuming things stay as they are is to automatically do empowered garrotes when IC is active reguardless of whether stealth is active or not. If you think about it we can theoretically enter stealth every few seconds / between all trash packs anyway which enables an always empowered garrote with IC , so allowing IC to be empowered regardless of stealth isnt in anyway OP and would give assa rogues a quality of life for said chain pulling / spiteful M+ weeks.
Basically update the âImproved Garroteâ talent to also something like - Also buffs Indescrimated Carnage Garottes regardless of stealth
the problem with assassination is it need time for the dots to get up and rolling.
sin on higher keys is absolutely viable
Why anyone would want to go through the amount of micromanagement when u can just play sub is beyond me. But to each their own
Their profile being damage over time is one of the problems, not âthe problem.â There are many damage over time specs that are doing fine, or even great. That being said, I think bleeds do not fit the theme of an assassin.
This is from the perspective of playing with assassination rogues, rather than how the rotation feels or what the damage profile is like.
In a vacuum, assassination would like to get stealth for each pack as it increases their damage as well as brings some utility.
This design can lead to a few things:
a) It is worth pulling around their stealth, even if it leads to worse DPS for other classes.
If this was the case, you would just bring 2-3 of them since they all benefit from the same playstyle. Not a good solution.
b) The group ignores the bonus as it is not worth the trade off.
Why even bother having the stealth bonus then?
c) They get something that allows them to restealth frequently.
Why even bother having the stealth bonus then?
Assassination needs to play a different game than everyone else to get their highest damage out, and playing around them is not always an option because of how much worse it is for the rest of the group.
When doing keys with an assassination rogue, spiteful goes from essentially being a non-affix to being a quite big overall damage reduction. It also doesnât help that even when the right call is to kill off a spiteful to get the AoE silence for the next pack, pugs will still scream their lungs out that âSpiteful can be ignored.â
During grievous weeks they require the bleed to be cleared between packs so it doesnât break stealth, or they lose DPS. For the other specs I can just leave a HoT on and it will get them up sometime during the next pack, but for assassination I have to go out of my way to make sure they can stealth.
The fact that both of these can be active in the same week is just rubbing salt in the wounds.
Most people prefer to just keep playing the way they are used to with every other spec. Why would they change for a spec that, even on a good day, wonât be doing incredible amounts of damage?
Assassination is fine for 20s, but they are not desirable because of how much more work they are to play with and for their poor damage compared to the other two specs.
I was first like naah no way. so i kindly copied your talents thank you very much, and now im doing so much better than outlaw. I really liked playing assa in m+ in bfa but i feel this is still viable and definately feels better to play than sub and does better numbers than outlaw. thanks a lot mate
Yes itâs bad. Any other competent class/spec would have done 160k on that same key.
160k in +20? I donât think so
with all dds having around 420 iLevel maybe
You guys are missing the point and focus too much on the random number.
The point is that any other class with better AoE profile would have done way more damage, regardless of dungeon and key level.
so with now 418 ilevel - just did a 21 academy with almost 130k overall - beat a boomkin with same ilevel .Boomkin is supposedly doing the best aoe - so whoever says assa cannot do aoe is just plain wrong.
